PC
- (pronounced
P-C) is the category for any games that have been developed for
the personal computer (PC) that runs under the Microsoft Windows family
of products. In 1981, IBM released their first personal computer that
ran on a humble 8086 Processor which then lead to the explosion of clone
PCs. Since then, the Personal Computer has gone from speeds of 4Mhz with
monochrome screens to powerful 32-bit (Intel) and 64-bit (AMD)
processors that run speeds in excess of 3600Mhz (3.6Ghz) with the
capabilities of displaying over 16 million colours. Although the console
market dominates the gaming world, the PC is still the master of first
person shooters and real-time strategy games with its extraordinary
ability to display a plethora of high resolutions and amazing graphical
effects.
