The gaming headset market has truly exploded and given that these devices offer a more immersive experience into our virtual worlds, it’s totally understandable because of how integral audio is to us in games. This time we’re looking at HyperX’s new Cloud Gaming Headset for the PlayStation 4 (however can be used on other devices) that is quite affordably priced at around $129.00AUD (October 2018) and is an officially licensed product. This headset is also powered by 53mm hi-fi capable drivers with a frequency response of 15-25 kHz which produce some excellent audio for PS4 and PS4 Pro gamers.

Out of the box, the HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset is extremely lightweight and positively looks like a PlayStation 4 headset from its stylised design and more importantly has the PlayStation logo branded on the headband, including its blue and black colouring. Given that this could be considered an entry level headset, the build quality is impressive from its aluminum frame to the very comfortable leatherette memory foam ear cups which allows for longer than long gaming sessions.

The cabling for this gaming headset is a high quality braided cable that also allows you to control the volume from the cable, including a microphone mute button. Adding to the design is a detachable microphone plus a two-year warranty which nicely rounds out this gaming headset

The audio quality of HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset is decent which produced crystal clear audio in all the titles that we played on our Playstation 4 Pro that included Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Battlefield I and No Man’s Sky. Thanks to the high quality drivers, the audio levels were impressive and the bass produced by this headset gave enough grunt without it begin too overbearing.

They also create a very immersive experience, especially with directional sound, even though this headset is stereo. Further to gaming, music and movies worked well and given that the microphone is detachable, this product does double as headphones for your smartphones while you’re on the go. All in all, it’s a great gaming headset for PS4 and PS4 owners.

Final Thoughts?

The HyperX Cloud Gaming Headset for the PlayStation 4 is a great entry-level headset that supports both local and online gaming well and more importantly, some decent audio quality which includes good levels and bass. The build-quality is good and the design definitely looks gamer in its aesthetics, especially from a PlayStation perspective.
