Summary: When the performance and price of the G70 Pro are so close to the best players in the industry, it is truly difficult to recommend it.

Under the shadow of giants

T-Force G70 Pro is the latest M.2 PCIe SSD from T-Force that packs a lot of effort in its development and is the new flagship M.2 NVMe of the company.

G70 Pro comes in 1-4TB capacities and the one used for this review is a 1TB version equipped with the special graphene heatsink. G70 Pro M.2 SSDs have two different heatsink options. The first one is a normal aluminum cover that can be screwed to the sides of the device and the second option is the patented ultra-thin graphene heatsink. The graphene heatsink looks like a thin sticker placed on the top of the device and is great for using the SSD in laptops or PS5 consoles where there is not much room for bulky heatsinks.

T-Force G70 Pro speed test

Samsung 970 Evo speed test

G70 Pro supports both DRAM caching and SLC Caching but for common usage, DRAM caching is what universally is faster in case of reading and writing speed. G70 Pro claims to have up to 7400 MB/s read and up to 5500 MB/s write speed. But strangely, my benchmarks with multiple tools failed to record more than half of that. As shown in the pictures above, I tested it alongside my three-year-old Samsung 970 EVO 1TB SSDs, and the results were mixed.

Samsung 970 EVO 1TB SSD was better when it came to multi-queue read and write while G70 Pro was better in single-queue performance. But in general, the difference in performance between the two devices was minimal at best. The results were the same in my gaming Benchmarks as well.

T-Force G70 Pro was faster in loading games both when the game booted for the first time (1st loading) and when I returned to the main menu and loaded my save again (2nd loading) but the difference in performance is insignificant.

Final Thoughts?

When it comes to comparison, the T-Force G70 Pro has no bargaining chip to encourage gamers or hardcore techies to trust this small player in the memory industry. The price of T-Force G70 Pro 1TB is 149 AUD while Western Digital  Black SN850X 1TB -one of the best SSDs out there if not the best- is only 25 AUD more. When the performance and price of the G70 Pro are so close to the best players in the industry, this is a tough decision.
