iGulu Sparkling White Wine Fermentation Kit Review

Smart home brewing technology has taken massive leaps forward, and the iGulu ecosystem continues to expand its repertoire beyond traditional beers. Today, we’re shifting gears from hops and malts to something a bit more celebratory with the iGulu Sparkling White Wine Fermentation Ingredient Kit. Promising an easy, automated route to a crisp, refreshing glass of bubbly with an estimated 10.5% ABV, we put this kit to the test to see how seamlessly it integrates into the iGulu machine workflow.

(Our full review of the iGulu can be found here.)

Setup

If you’ve ever been intimidated by the meticulous sterilisation and temperature controls required for traditional winemaking, iGulu completely removes that barrier. The entire setup process is remarkably straightforward and takes just a few minutes of hands‑on time.

Here’s how simple it is to get started:

  • Prep the keg — Ensure your iGulu keg is clean, sanitised and ready.
  • Add the finings — Mix the included bentonite granules (finings) with 250ml of warm water and pour into the keg.
  • Add the juice blend — Pour in the premium juice concentrate and top up with cool water to the maximum fill line, stirring well.
  • Add the yeast — Sprinkle in the dry yeast and leave it unstirred.
  • Lock it down — Secure the heavy‑duty lid, tighten the clamp and you’re ready to power on.
  • Tap and scan — Stick the included RFID sticker onto the scanning area. The machine instantly recognises the “Sparkling White Wine” profile and configures the fermentation schedule.

(This can also be controlled via the app.)

From here, the machine takes full control, running a precise cycle: 12 days at 20°C for fermentation, followed by a 5‑day cold crash at 2°C to settle everything out.

While the process itself gets top marks for user‑friendliness, there is one minor critique regarding the physical packaging design. The outer packaging needs clearer labelling because if you cut the bag in the wrong place, the internal juice pouch risks being punctured, causing a sticky spill. A more prominent “Cut Here” line or separated compartments for the dry packets would elevate the unboxing experience from good to perfect. Although we didn’t have an issue, it’s something to keep in mind — especially for those eager to get started quickly.

Impressions

The iGulu Sparkling White Wine kit proves that the platform isn’t just a one‑trick pony for beer tap takeovers. Aside from a slight packaging quirk that requires a steady hand with the scissors, the actual brewing initiation is completely painless. With the machine currently holding temperature at a steady 20°C, the countdown to a fresh, home‑brewed sparkling white is officially on.

Fast‑forward to Day 17 — the verdict? Like our previous experience, the iGulu Sparkling White Wine Fermentation Kit delivered a fun, hands‑on brewing journey. In terms of taste, the wine leans a little dry but remains drinkable. Turn it into a spritzer, though, and it becomes noticeably more enjoyable.

Final Thoughts

The iGulu Sparkling White Wine Fermentation Kit is another clever addition to the iGulu lineup, thanks to its simple ingredient integration and the RFID tag that removes all guesswork, ensuring precise automatic temperature scheduling. While the pouch packaging could benefit from clearer cutting guides to avoid accidental punctures, it’s ultimately a minor concern — and one that helps keep overall packaging minimal.

As for the taste? It’s not the greatest wine you’ll ever drink, but the journey is genuinely fun, and once the process is complete, your sparkling white is perfectly chilled at 4°C and ready to enjoy.
