IGEA welcomes new government incentive for Australian games developers

The Interactive Games and Entertainment Association (IGEA) has shared their delight for the Games: Expansion Pack initiative announced today that allows Australian independent game development studios to access federal screen funding for the first time since 2014.

Announced by Screen Australia and the Hon Paul Fletcher MP, Minister for Communications, Urban Infrastructure, Cities and the Arts, the initiative is aimed towards small, medium and emerging independent Australian games developers seeking finance for their project.
The incentive will allow Australian developers to enhance the quality of their digital games in addition to grow and scale their business, creating more employment opportunities locally and delivering more export-ready games content to growing international audiences.
