Faster, louder, bolder: Motorola launches its first 5G smartphone in Australia, the motorola edge

Motorola has today announced the availability of the new motorola edge, their first 5G-enabled smartphone in Australia. The motorola edge is available to purchase from today at JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, Officeworks (online only), Mobileciti, and the Motorola online store at an RRP of $999.

The motorola edge is a state-of-the-art smartphone that delivers advanced technology in every category that matters, including powerhouse 5G performance, a dynamic and immersive display, audio that’s completely unmatched, a photography experience like no other, and one of the largest batteries in its class. Simply put, the motorola edge is the phone you’ve been waiting for.

To amplify the entertainment experience, the motorola edge has the loudest, most powerful stereo speakers in a smartphone ever, plus precision audio processing for professional-quality sonic performance and deeper, fuller sound.[1] The audio technology comes from Waves, recipient of a Technical GRAMMY® Award, to make your music, videos, and phone calls sound louder and clearer than ever.

To celebrate the launch, Motorola is offering bonus Motorola VerveBuds 110 true wireless headphones with every purchase of a motorola edge. A new generation of True Wireless Stereo (TWS) in-ear headphones, the VerveBuds 110 offers ultimate mobility and rich quality sound whilst on the move. Customers can redeem the headphones at motorola.com.au with a valid IMEI and proof of purchase of motorola edge.

“Motorola’s strategy has always been to lead with innovation and deliver what matters most to consumers. With the motorola edge, we’re continuing our innovative legacy in the industry by bringing the fastest data speeds to a smartphone that pushes the limits of mobile engineering and nails every important feature with outstanding experiences,” said Danny Adamopoulos, General Manager of Sales, APAC for Mature Markets, Motorola.

The motorola edge isMotorola’s newest flagship device built for ultimate 5G performance and the best mobile entertainment, for less. The Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 765 mobile platform provides powerful performance with incredible efficiency for browsing, watching videos and gaming. 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage keep your device running smoothly with plenty of storage (expandable up to 1TB with the microSD card slot) so you can take full advantage of the experiences enabled by 5G.

Motorola’s brand new Endless Edge display completes the mobile entertainment experience, wrapping nearly 90 degrees around both edges of the device to draw you in to your content. The largest ever on a Motorola phone, the 6.7” Full HD OLED display has a beautiful curvature that maximises the viewing area and enables a new suite of side-touch gestures for better control over the most frequently used phone features. The motorola edge has eliminated nearly all bezels uses just a small hole-punch for the selfie camera, resulting in an overall seamless design that feels great to hold.

Born from recording studios and used by sound engineers, music, film and TV producers and broadcasters, Waves delivers professional-quality sonic performance on smartphone speakers in a way that’s never been done before. With Waves audio processing technology, the two large stereo speakers provide extended bass output, cleaner vocals, and enhanced clarity at higher volumes so your videos, games, music, and phone calls are crisp, clear, and loud. Audio is optimised for playback both through the loudspeakers or through headphones, and tuning is automatically adjusted based on whether you are holding the phone in portrait or landscape orientation. A built-in 3.5mm headset jack lets you connect wired or wirelessly when you want.

“With the Waves’ MaxxAudio® Mobile suite of advanced algorithms, the motorola edge delivers a truly advanced sonic experience that brings mobile sound to the next level. More people are looking for a portable home theater experience from their phones and the motorola edge delivers a best-in-class experience that is impactful, balanced and immersive. This is just the beginning of a collaboration between Motorola and Waves that will lead to new innovations in sound technology for premium phones,” said Adam Levenson, Senior Director of Business Development and Marketing, Consumer Electronics Division at Waves Audio.

When you need to top off battery life quickly, 15W TurboPowerTM gives you hours of power in just minutes of charging. All of this is wrapped up in a premium design, seamless from front to back, and with narrow dimensions that make it easy to use one-handed.

For people who want a more pure operating system running on the best technology, the motorola edge is the phone for you. Motorola is committed to bringing intuitive software experiences to consumers so there are no clunky software skins, no duplicate apps – just near-stock Android™ 10 to enhance the mobile experience.

“The premium space is challenging and competitive and we knew any flagship device we created would have to give consumers a true reason to look at a new device, be built from the ground up to be a 5G powerhouse, and be completely in lockstep with consumer insights. Built with the newest and very best technology available, the motorola edge is the best of the best, but this is also just the beginning of what we have to offer,” said Mr Adamopoulos.

Earlier this year, Motorola won its second Red Dot award of the year with the motorola edge and motorola edge+. Submitted as a family, these two new devices were recognised in the world’s most renowned design competition for their outstanding design quality. In 2020, designers and companies from 60 countries entered more than 6,500 products in this year’s competition.
