Belkin Adds Kevlar®, Launches DuraTek™ Lightning-to-USB Cable Collection

Belkin and DuPont collaborate to create the ultimate durable cable collection for the iPhone and iPad

Tuggerah, Australia – December 7, 2016 – Belkin, the Australian market leader in mobile accessories, today announced a collaboration with DuPont Protection Solutions (DuPont) for the development of a premium line of cables built with their Kevlar® technology, delivering unprecedented durability.

Designed for the iPhone or iPad, the DuraTek™ Lightning to USB Cables launched today are forged with superior quality materials, including strong DuPont™ Kevlar® fiber strands built into the cables that protect wires inside from damage. Best known for its lightweight strength and use in ballistic and stab-resistant body armour, DuPont™ Kevlar® fiber is used around the world for everything from bullet resistant vests and crash helmets to extreme sports gear.

The DuraTek™ Lightning to USB Cables, part of Belkin’s extensive MIXIT↑™ range, incorporate many smart design details, such as longer, flexible strain relief to prevent breakage; an abrasion-resistant, double-braided nylon tough outer jacket; and highly flexible insulation to minimise damage from friction.

The cable collection is available in signature Apple colours, including black, gold, rose-gold and silver, thus delivering a cable with style, sustained performance and ultimate durability.

“With the growing dependence upon mobile devices, a steadfast charging option that can keep up with our busy lifestyles is becoming a necessity for Australian consumers. We are thrilled to be working with DuPont to create even more durable, reliable charging options for Australian consumers” said Josh Caulfield, Head of Product Management ANZ, Belkin.

“For more than two decades, DuPont™ Kevlar® fiber has brought lightweight, flexible strength and temperature resistance to electro-mechanical cables for severe loads and in harsh environments, from the bottom of the ocean to the surface of Mars.  We are pleased to be working with the global leader, Belkin, to now bring the Kevlar® advantage to consumers in fine gauge cables for electronic devices,” said Lynne Chappel, global brand leader, DuPont.

DuPont™ Kevlar® fiber, first developed in 1965, has helped to protect the lives of thousands of people around the world in the last 50 years. The use of Kevlar® has been extended to everything from firefighter and industrial protective clothing to vehicles, fiber optic cables, mining belts, commercial aircraft and city roads.
