Aiper Scuba X1 Review (AI powered pool cleaning with powerful performance)

If you’re looking to upgrade your annoying and outdated creepy crawly or it’s time to level up your existing wireless robotic pool cleaner, then Aiper, a specialist in these devices, may have the solution for you with one of their latest robots for 2025. Aiper were founded in 2017 where they quickly gained traction for its user-friendly, cordless pool vacuums and their new models , continue this trend. The new Aiper’s Scuba X1 is a sleek, cordless robotic pool cleaner designed to simplify pool maintenance that amalgamates both smart tech and powerful performance to keep your pool clean and without the elbow grease. The Scuba series also marks a new chapter in their innovation journey, with the X1 currently retailing for $1,599AUD (November 2025).

The Aiper Scuba X1 boasts some impressive features that include 6600 GPH suction, dual jets and WaveLine 2.0 waterline scrubbing, which makes it highly effective against sand, leaves and fine debris. It offers multiple cleaning modes (smart, floor, wall, waterline, scheduled) and uses OmniSense ultrasonic sensors with WavePath 3.0 smart navigation to accurately map the pool, optimize cleaning paths and avoid obstacles. Critically, it features a smart dual-stage filtration system, using both a standard basket for large debris and a MicroMesh ultra-fine filter (down to 3μm) for exceptional water clarity.

It also boasts an excellent runtime of up to 180 minutes uninterrupted, allowing it to cover pools up to 200 square metres which features Smart Waterline Parking for easy, hook-free retrieval, alongside a quick water release function to lighten the load when lifting it out. Combined with the generous 5L top-load filter basket, it makes debris disposal quick and intuitive which helps in reducing pool maintenance and lastly, the included wireless charging dock transforms the charging routine from a manual, plug-in chore to a simple “dock-and-go” solution, keeping the unit neatly stored and always ready.

Unboxing the Scuba X1 is a bit of a workout as the box is surprisingly heavy, though much of that weight comes from the sturdy, protective packaging. However, you’ll find everything you need inside, the robot, a wireless charging dock, retrieval hook, accessories, manuals and the famous Aiper oversized quick start poster. And its appearance, the all-black design fits perfectly within the high-end market segment, but the true luxury lies in the device’s convenience.

Setup

Setup is a breeze – you simply remove the protective tape, put the charging dock together, plug it in and then place the Aiper Scuba x1 onto the dock and wait for it to char. Once charged, you need to download the app, setup an Aiper account and then pair it to the X1 which takes no time thanks to the wizard. The app is very easy to navigate courtesy of its user-interface.

Besides being able to choose cleaning options, it also gives you access to statistics (e.g. total cleaning time), cleaning path preferences (S-shaped vs Adaptive path), battery level and component management that provides you a snapshot of the roller brush, filter and caterpillar tread.

Day to Day

Performance: The Aiper Scuba X1 proves that even a pool that looks clean can be taken to the next level of clarity. In our testing, the unit didn’t just skim the surface , it noticeably enhanced overall water quality, leaving the pool sparkling in a way that photos alone can’t fully capture. One of the standout features is its dual-layer filter system which is a combination of a fine filter and a microfilter ensures that both visible debris and the tiniest particles are effectively captured.

Accessing the filter is straightforward, making routine maintenance simple and stress-free. That said however, the microfilter does require a bit more effort to clean compared to the fine filter. Although this adds a few extra minutes to the process, it’s a minor trade-off for the level of thoroughness the system delivers and once cleaned, the filter is ready to go again without fuss, keeping the overall experience seamless.

Final thoughts?

The Aiper Scuba X1 is a strong contender in the smart pool cleaner market. It’s stylish, powerful, and easy to use, with thoughtful design touches that make pool maintenance less of a chore. Filter cleaning could be more efficient, but the overall package is compelling, especially given its features and 180‑minute runtime. For tech-savvy pool owners, it’s a smart investment that blends form and function beautifully.
