Accessible & Safe!

It’s quite amazing to see how far the humble mobile phone has evolved and interestingly enough, this is the 25th anniversary since the first hand-held mobile phone called the Walkabout was released in Australia. Since then, mobile phones have changed considerably and now the Smart Phone is an integral part of our lives. Whether it’s listening to music, playing games or accessing Facebook, Smart Phones have truly changed the way how we use these devices. More importantly, most Smart Phones have a GPS which in essence removes the need for additional GPS devices. However using this feature on a Smart Phone while driving is highly dangerous, not to mention illegal which is where the excellent DashView Deluxe comes into play from Cygnett.

The DashView Deluxe is a compact smartphone car mount that once connected to your windscreen, allows you to connect your device into the cradle. It basically mimics the standalone GPS device such as a Navman or TomTom and uses your smartphone instead. I tested the DashView Deluxe with my iPhone 4S and the product firmly held my smartphone in place while I used the app TomTom on it. Flawless!

The installation of the Cygnett The DashView Deluxe was almost child’s play. The first step was to clean the windscreen and then assemble the mount into the cradle. If the cradle is a little loose, there is a nut at the back of the cradle to tighten the unit. The next step is to remove the plastic covering over the suction cup and then place it on your windscreen. Once placed, you simply press the lever down on the back of the mount which creates a suction to hold the DashView securely on your windscreen. The suction cup also has an added layer of adhesive for additional grip and should this become dirty, all you need to do is wash under water and it will restore its adhesiveness.

Another great feature of the DashView is how you place your device into the cradle. Unlike the previous product from Cygnett which required you to manually expand the arm grip, you push a button on the back of the cradle to expand the arms which is a brilliant feature. Once the arm grips open, you place your phone into the device and gently close the arms. This definitely makes attaching your smartphone a superior method opposed to manually adjusted grip arms. It also ensures the suction remains stronger on windscreen and prevents any damage to the mount and cradle. As the cradle is adjustable, it supports a variety of devices such as the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy Note II plus a variety of other smartphones. You can even rotate the DashView 360 degrees for optimum viewing.

Final Thoughts?

The Cygnett The DashView Deluxe is probably the best windscreen mounted that I have tested that is not only easy to use but ensures that your Smart Phone remains safely secured to your windscreen.

Highly Recommended!
