Shadowloo Showdown 2013 – October 12-13th

Published on September 4, 2013 by in Gaming, Mind Fun

One of our major and annual tournaments is Shadowloo Showdown. The biggest fighting game event in the Southern Hemisphere and still growing. The reason for my email is hopefully to get you lovely people in the media to spread the world and help grow the competitive gaming scene in Australia.

Shadowloo Showdown 2013 is taking place at “The Atrium” which is a very fancy looking event room at the Flemington Race Center just outside the Melbourne CBD on October 12th-13th. Aside from all the local Australian talent coming down to compete at SS2k13, we have players traveling in from New Zealand, Japan, Kuwait, France, England, America, Singapore and many more.

Special guests so far including team Mad Catz consisting of Tokido and Mago. AVerMedia’s star player from Taiwan; GamerBee as well as Evolution 2013 champion from Singapore; DM|Xian.

For those who don’t know, Xian became the EVO Super Street Fighter IV champion in Las Vegas using Gen, beating out over 2000 other competitors. BUT, Xian has yet to win an SS event. If he does, he will be the first player to ever win EVO and SS in the same year. Hopefully the Australian’s can stop him though!

(Attached some movie style posters of some of the special guests coming down if you would like to use them)

Last Shadowloo Showdown, we had over 400 competitors and hit just over 20,000 concurrent viewers on our TwitchTV channel. This year we aim to beat those numbers again.

Here is the list of official tournaments being run at SS2k13.
– Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition 2012 (Xbox 360)
– Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (Xbox 360)
– King of Fighters XIII (Xbox 360)
– Injustice: Gods Among Us (Xbox 360)
– Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (Sony PS3)
– Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown (Xbox 360)
– Super Smash Bros Melee (GameCube/Wii)
– Super Smash Bros Brawl (Nintendo Wii)

There will also be various other fighting games for people to play that may not have made the tournament list such as Dead or Alive 5, Skullgirls, Guilty Gear and more.

One other key feature is SS2k13 will play host to a Fighting Game Themed Cosplay Competition (See attached image) with cash and prizes on the line. We’ll also be publishing a book after the event featuring some of the great shots and edits thanks to Soltography and Bosslogic Inc.

I’m glad you asked! We have a Shadowloo Showdown webpage setup where you can find the info you need, but if there is anything else you might want to know, please contact me and I will be happy to help out with any questions.

If you would like to go one step further and attend Shadowloo Showdown 2013 as media, please send me a list that contains the names of your crew and their emails so I can add you to the media list for SS2k13 which grants you access to the venue on both days to view the cosplay competition and the fighting game tournament.

If you would like to interview some of the top international players coming down, we can also set that up for you.

If you have any other questions, again feel free to hit me up anytime.
Thanks for your time guys, I really appreciate it and hope to see you all make it down to SS2k13.
