Summary: Arty Facts, much like previous Two Point Museum DLC doesn't change things up a whole lot, but more Two Point Museum is always welcome.

Artistic!

Arty Facts is the latest DLC for Two Point Museum, and as you might expect with a name like that, it focuses entirely on the artistic pursuits, turning your museum into an art gallery.

Much like its predecessor, Zooseum, Arty Facts is a relatively small but highly focused package that, rather than being a self-contained experience, adds its functionality to the game as a whole, expanding the available content throughout.

As a result of this, the core gameplay doesn’t change much from the standard set in the base game.

Much like Zooseum, Arty Facts adds a new Museum to introduce players to the new mechanics and systems. Here we’re taught about the new types of exhibits that are available, and brought up to speed on the differences implemented to support them.

In the base game and previous DLCs, everything worked roughly the same way. Hire experts in a given field, send them on expeditions, and display what they find in your museum. While this is mostly still the same, Arty Facts makes a few adjustments to the formula to mix things up a little.

The experts you hire are still core to the experience, fulfilling various artistic disciplines such as 2D art (i.e. painting) and sculpture. Where things change, however, is how exhibits are obtained. Rather than sending your experts on trips to gather new rarities, the experts themselves are sent into a new room, the art studio, to create masterpieces to display.

As your staff gain experience and level up, their expertise in a given topic increases, and the quality of work follows. Perks are also obtained this way, with certain requirements being necessary to fulfil before any can be created.

Expeditions are still an integral part of the experience, though. Some works can be found throughout the multitude of new locations the DLC adds, and raw materials such as clay can be found and brought home, which are required for sculptures.

Along with this, there are dozens of new cosmetic items added, five new interactive exhibits, and small updates to the cafe and gift shop, each with an artistic theme. There are enough new items in the theme to completely transform a museum into an art gallery, with plenty of variety on offer.

The sense of humour that has come to be expected in all of Two Point’s game is thankfully still here. From the quirky soundtrack and radio host, to the amusing character designs and interesting exhibits. A new element of silliness has been introduced to things with Arty Facts, but it feels earned and it works well in the Two Point framework.

Final Thoughts

Arty Facts, much like Zooseum, isn’t especially game-changing or revelatory for the franchise, but it offers more, new, Two Point Museum, and that alone might just be enough. All the trademark charm and character of Two Point’s games are here, so if you enjoy what the base game or Zooseum offers, then you’ll enjoy this, because it’s largely more of the same, and that’s no bad thing.
