Three scene-stealing stars will shine in Melbourne – Dee Wallace, Kim Coates and Harvey Guillén join the Metro Comic Con line up

Fan-favourite actors will meet their devoted Aussie admirers this July, with three new guests announced to appear at Australia’s newest pop culture convention Metro Comic Con. Dee Wallace, Kim Coates and Harvey Guillén will make their mark in Melbourne at the entertainment event, which is taking place at the Melbourne Showgrounds on the weekend of 8-9 July.

Dee Wallace has graced the big and small screens for over 50 years, making a name for herself in the sci-fi and horror genres. One of her most recognisable roles was that of Mary Taylor, mother to Henry Thomas’ Elliott, in the blockbuster film E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. She will be joined by Thomas in Melbourne, with the actor already announced to appear at the event. A prolific scream queen, Wallace has starred in horror classics like The Hills Have Eyes, The Howling, Cujo and Critters, and more modern tales such as The Frighteners, Halloween (2007) and Jeepers Creepers: Reborn.

With over 40 years of experience in theatre, film and television, Kim Coates is best known for playing Alexander ‘Tig’ Trager on Sons of Anarchy, arguably one of the show’s most popular and stand-out characters. He reprised the role in Mayans M.C. and has appeared in other roles in television programs like Entourage, Ghost Wars, Van Helsing and Bad Blood. Coates has played parts in many major motion pictures like The Last Boy Scout, Resident Evil Afterlife, The Client, Black Hawk Down, Pearl Harbor, Waterworld, Silent Hill, and the cult-classic Canadian hockey comedy Goon and its sequel Goon: Last of the Enforcers.

Javier ‘Harvey’ Guillén is a ‘familiar face’ for fans of the comedy series What We Do in the Shadows, where he plays the human familiar and vampire bodyguard from a vampire hunter lineage, Guillermo de la Cruz. He has guest-starred in television series such as Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The Magicians, iZombie, The Good Place, Huge and Zoes Extraordinary Playlist, and appeared in The Internship opposite Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn. Guillén is also a respected voice actor, voicing Funny the Magic House in Mickey Mouse Funhouse and Nightwing in Harley Quinn.

Coming along with them to Melbourne will be one of Australia’s most prominent comic artists and a talented DC Comics mainstay, Nicola Scott (Wonder Woman Historia, Birds of Prey, Secret Six, Teen Titans, Earth 2, Black Magick, Wonder Woman: Year One). With her instantly recognisable drawing style, Scott has illustrated some of DC’s most iconic characters, including Wonder Woman, Batman, Nightwing, Batgirl, Harley Quinn, Aquaman, Shazam, Bane, Red Hood, Blue Beetle and Superman.

They join already announced Metro Comic Con guests:

  • Actors Henry Thomas (T. the Extra-Terrestrial), Brendan Fehr (Roswell) and Katy O’Brian (The Mandalorian).
  • Comic book writer Andrew Constant.
  • Illustrators Jason Palmer and Mike McKone.
