STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS — UNPRECEDENTED TICKET PRE-SALES RECORDS ACROSS AUSTRALIA

October 20, 2015— Star Wars: The Force Awakens has smashed records with over $1M in the first 4 hours in pre-ticket sales.

Midnight screenings are selling out with more sessions being added to keep up with demand. 

It’s been a big two days for Star Wars fans with a new poster for Star Wars: The Force Awakens released yesterday, a new trailer released today and tickets on sale from 8am AEDT. 

“Judging by the unprecedented ticket pre-sale numbers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it’s clear that The Force is strong in Australia,” said Catherine Powell, Managing Director, The Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand.  “Whilst we expected significant interest from the many passionate Star Wars fans in this country, we are delighted with the overwhelming response from Australians who want to experience the next chapter of this epic story during opening weekend and beyond.” 

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in cinemas 17 December, 2015.

Lucasfilm and visionary director J.J. Abrams join forces to take you back again to a galaxy far, far away as Star Wars returns to the big screen with Star Wars: The Force Awakens. 

The film stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Max Von Sydow. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk are producing with Tommy Harper and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. The screenplay is by J.J. Abrams & Lawrence Kasdan and Michael Arndt.
