Sophie McCartney, Award-Winning British Comedian & Bestselling Author Announces Debut Australian & New Zealand Tour For May & June 2024

Number one bestselling author, comedian and the internet’s favourite funny mummy, SOPHIE MCCARTNEY is bringing her Tired & Tested comedy tour to Australia and New Zealand for her debut shows down under. Hailed as the “funniest mum on Instagram” by Mother & Baby UK, this is one debut tour you won’t want to miss.

Tickets are now on sale for all shows. For complete tour and ticket information, visit: livenation.com.au and livenation.co.nz

The tour will kick off on May 30 at Auckland’s Q Theatre, followed by shows at Brisbane’s Powerhouse, Sydney’s Factory Theatre, Melbourne’s Athenaeum Theatre and finishing off in Perth’s Astor Theatre.

Quote from Sophie McCartney:

“I can’t wait to kick off the Aussie leg of the tour! That said, I will be carting three under-10s half way ‘round the world on a plane… so expect me to be incredibly tired and tested when I get to you. I may have to change the name of the show to ‘Sedated and Sectioned’. I’m sure it’ll be fine… 23 hours will fly by. I have been ‘down under’ once before, in my twenties, but this will be my first time performing here – which I’m ‘stoked’ about. You guys are so chilled and up for a good time – it’s going to be great! I’m also looking forward to seeing alllllll the sights – the Sydney Opera House, Great Barrier Reef, Rottnest, and of course Chris Hemsworth’s house… from behind a bush.”

Sophie McCartney is Tired and Tested

From perky tits, to killing nits, join award-winning comedian Sophie McCartney as she ventures into the perilous world of parenthood in this rollicking new stand-up show set to test pelvic floor muscles to the max(i) pad.

Best known for her wickedly accurate insights into adulting, Sophie thought by the time she became a ‘proper’ grown-up (someone who likes olives) life would all be figured out. How very wrong she was. Feeling like an out-of-depth-teen trapped in the slightly sagging skin suit of a 30-something mum-of-three, why did no one tell her what to really expect after she was expecting? Will her belly button ever go back to ‘normal’? Why do you need a degree in collapsing travel cots? And does she have what it takes to stop her current cereal eaters from becoming future serial killers?

Hold onto your ‘Apple Bottom jeans and boots with the fur’ as you follow Sophie on her evolution from non-maternal ‘noughties’ wild child to the highs and lows of being with child. Mating, birthing, body changes, overbearing nutjob love, and still not being able to handle your booze on a night out; nothing is off limits for this postpartum.

About Sophie

Liverpool-born Sophie McCartney is a 30-something comedian, performer, podcaster and double Sunday Times Number One Bestselling author.

She won the ‘Funny Women Award’ for ‘Best Comedy Series’ as voted for by the British public in 2020, has been shortlisted for a British Book Award and the prestigious Everyman Bollinger Wodehouse prize for her debut novel, Mother Hens.

In 2023, Sophie announced her first UK stand-up comedy tour which sold out in less than 24 hours, making it the fastest-selling debut tour for a female comedian…ever. McCartney announced her first tour with 15 UK dates back in March 2023, but after the extraordinary demand for tickets, the tour has been extended from 15 dates to 67 dates running into 2024 including Australia and New Zealand.

If selling out tours and books wasn’t enough, Sophie recently launched a brand-new podcast much to the delight of her followers! ‘Tired and Tested with Sophie McCartney’ is Sophie’s ’safe space’ for sharing her weekly musings, moans and motherhood dilemmas. Each week Sophie tackles ‘Urban Dictionary Corner’ to see if she’s still ‘down-with-the-kids’ and also shares a parenting tale/ fail from a listener, hilarious stories to give us all a good giggle and make us feel 10% better about our own parenting blunders! There is also a new spin-off episode every Thursday where Sophie reminisces about something from her youth tapping into the 90/00s nostalgia phenomenon. Available to listen NOW wherever you get your podcasts!

After a ten-year career in PR, Sophie turned her focus to comedy in 2017, launching her ‘Tired and Tested’ phenomenon which quickly gained cult status for her down-to-earth, no-holds-barred approach to parenting and life as a millennial.

Sophie now lives in Cheshire with her husband, three children and an extremely spirited beagle.
