4.8

Aussie colours!

Roo knows, Roo knows, Roo knows blue.

But does Roo know about other colours too?

Roo Knows Blue is all about a kangaroo called Roo and also the world of colours, however this little marsupial only knows blue. Created by Renee Treml, she takes the younger reader on a truly Australian adventure with all it colours. With its rhythm-like story telling we follow Roo as she hops along the beach with its blue waters, blue skies and even blue flowers. From there Roo visits other colours like the red desert, the yellow flowers of the bush and other colours too such as pink, green and purple too.

However after each area that Roo visits, this little kangaroo proudly states the colours she saw was only blue, however is “politely” told by a possum the correct colour. The book ends with Roo finally acknowledging the kaleidoscope of colours of Australia which ends beautifully with the colour orange that is finally acknowledged by this kangaroo.

Final Thoughts?

In the end, Roo Knows Blue is a fun book that younger children will adore as they read along and scream the correct colours from the possum as Roo adamantly states that her world is blue. Furthermore, the writing and illustrations of Renee Treml perfectly suit this story well, particularly her clever story telling.

All in all, another fun book for your children’s collection!
