OMG!

It’s the summer of Taylor Swift and Willow Hart… and this is the drunk end
– P!nk (Marvel Stadium, Melbourne Australia)

P!nk who last toured Australia in 2018 (Beautiful Trauma World Tour), returns as a force of nature in the brilliant Summer Carnival concert that is another out of this world production. Like all good artists, P!nk (Alecia Beth Moore) continues to deliver new and powerful music and more importantly, this mum-Rocker is a very down to Earth individual which is why she resonates so well with her fans. So last night (23-02-2024), Melbourne got to experience the P!nk Summer Carnival at Marvel Stadium and the end result was a pumping concert that was part Rock, part Circus with a fantastic set list, including aerial stunts, fireworks, pyrotechnics, dancing which was filled with heart, laughs and a few surprises. Given that, seeing P!nk and her equally impressive band (Justin Derrico, Adriana Balic, Jason Chapman, Eva Gardner and Brian Frasier-Moore) perform is a must experience for all her fans, both old and new.

Supporting P!nk with her Australian tour is Toni Watson (Tones) who is a great match for this powerhouse performer… and yes, P!nk is a music superhero, she does indeed fly, literally! Tones and I delivered her own hits such as Dance Monkey and Johnny Run Away. Tones even brought her grandmother on stage as thousands of people put their phone torches on as a tribute for this special woman in her life. Prior to Tones and her fantastic band and choir was the equally talented Kidcutup who also got the crowd ready for both stars with his awesome remixes and even a touch of Australiana! P!nk also introduces her band and backup singers which really feels like a rock family.

Highlights? From the very first moment P!nk starts performing (Get The Party Started) to her last song (Never Gonna Not Dance Again) and the encore (So What), the setlist was great, including her fantastic cover of the Bob Dylan song Make You Feel My Love – and as the say in Singapore, “Fuiyoh” which means wow. As you’re more than aware, P!nk is one of the most energetic performers in the world and whether a song is fast, slow or somewhere in the middle, she changes the pace in some spectacular ways. P!nk also brings emotion to her songs such as a duet with her daughter Willow singing “Cover Me in Sunshine” to an equally moving moment of her dedicating the song “When I Get There” to her late father. There’s also plenty of interaction with the crowd, including P!nk disclosing small segments of her life to her love of Tim Tams and Maltesers – and that her dad has come back as a hawk!

Add in acoustic numbers plus some of her biggest songs and her vocals never missed a beat as Marvel Stadium came to life. Her hit song Trustfall from her latest album was also a big hit with the audience but then again, every song was a hit with the crowd. Given that I’m sure everyone has a P!nk song or songs that are part of their own personal soundtracks or anthems to their lives. So What and Never Gonna Not Dance Again are pretty damn impressive songs. Her dancers and circus performers add to the overall carnival experience of this concert, including great props, sets and lighting that turned Marvel Stadium into a huge party. The crowd at Marvel Stadium were also “vibing” with P!nk who were the perfect audience and even their singing was on par as well – Kudos to you guys!

Final Thoughts?

P!nk Summer Carnival will become the definitive concert for most and P!nk is a true rocker, not to mention an amazing circus artist and pianist. All in all, this concert is first class performance from start to finish! The end of the concert with So What also cements this fact as P!nk finishes the night with her amazing acrobatic skills and perhaps the next concert will be entitled Cirque du P!nk as she and crew aimed for the moon and delivered something out of this world with this concert extravaganza!
