PlayStation Announcements and Wins from The Game Awards 2023

The Game Awards has wrapped up for another year and there were some amazing reveals and wins across the event from PlayStation®. See below for a round-up of the biggest announcements:

God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla

Sony Interactive Entertainment is thrilled to announce that on December 13 (AEDT), it will be releasing a free DLC as a gift to players – God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla.

God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla will be an epilogue to the events of God of War Ragnarök that follows Kratos on a deeply personal and reflective journey.

Set after the decisive battle against Odin and Atreus’ departure, Kratos has seen a path for himself that he never thought possible before. Brought to the mysterious shores of Valhalla accompanied only by Mimir, Kratos will enter its unknown depths to overcome trials within himself and face echoes of his past.

Rise of The Ronin

Sony Interactive Entertainment is pleased to introduce its brand-new gameplay trailer for Rise of the Ronin, and to confirm that the game will be releasing March 22, 2024 with pre-orders available from December 14, 2023.

Players will explore the vast world of late-Edo period Japan by horse and glider, while battling foes using a wide range of weapons and equipment – melee weapons like swords and spears, as well as ranged weapons like firearms and thrown weapons. Also armed with a grappling rope and stealth tactics, you can expect the variety and freedom shown in our latest trailer.

In addition to our launch date, SIE is excited to share your options for experiencing Rise of the Ronin. Pre-orders will open on December 14, 2023 at all participating retailers and PlayStation Store. Pre-orders will go live at 10:00 AM local time on December 14, 2023. Players who pre-order any version of Rise of the Ronin will receive an early unlock of Iga Ninja’s Katana and Armour set and an early unlock of 4 Combat Styles to help you Forge Your Fate.

Final Fantasy XVI: two new story DLCs announced, first launches today

Final Fantasy XVI players will soon be able to enjoy two new DLC chapters for the critically-acclaimed action-RPG, one very soon indeed: Echoes of the Fallen launches on PlayStation Store today! The second DLC, entitled The Rising Tide, releases Spring 2024. Both are paid-for DLC, but players can purchase the Final Fantasy XVI Expansion Pass to enjoy both chapters at a discounted price.

HBO’s The Last of Us wins Best Adaptation award

HBO’s The Last of Us won Best Adaptation at The Game Awards. It beat nominees including The Super Mario Bros Movie, Castlevania: Nocturne and other PlayStation Productions – Gran Turismo, and Twisted Metal. The win comes off the news that the second season of HBO’s The Last of Us will debut on Max in 2025.

Helldivers 2

Helldivers 2 made an appearance at the show with the Automaton Pre-Order Trailer. Helldivers 2 launches on PS5 and Steam on February 8, 2024.

Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League

Warner Bros. Games revealed a new trailer for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League titled “No More Heroes”. The game is available from February 2, 2024 on PS5®
