NOW OPEN: Journey through living light at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium with the launch of Submerged
SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium has today unveiled a brand-new digital exhibition taking guests on a journey through living light inspired by the bioluminescent underwater world.
Submerged is an interactive digital experience within the iconic Melbourne attraction, marking the aquarium’s first foray into the evolving art form and captivating guests with its vibrance and hyperrealism.
Submerged tells the story of the dazzling firefly squid and other majestic ocean animals from a glittering shoreline in the midst of spawning season to a moonlit deep dive into the depths of the bioluminescent unknown.
Suitable to all ages, Submerged is a temporary exhibition open until December 2023 while SEA LIFE Melbourne’s 2.2 million litre Oceanarium display undergoes renovations.
“We are thrilled to be launching Submerged as an alternative but no less engaging underwater experience while our Oceanarium is upgraded this year. As one of Melbourne’s major tourist attractions, we are proud to be providing a new and exciting offering to our guests while still inspiring a love for the ocean and its inhabitants,” said Claire Burrell, General Manager of SEA LIFE Melbourne.
While the Oceanarium undergoes upgrades, some of the incredible creatures – including the larger sharks and rays – are not visible to guests. Visitors can rest assured that there are still thousands of wonderful marine and freshwater creatures to discover at SEA LIFE Melbourne throughout 2023. In addition to the new Submerged experience, guests can marvel at sub-Antarctic penguins, turtles, jellyfish, Port Jackson sharks, Pinjarra the saltwater crocodile, fish of all shapes, sizes and colours, and more!
Submerged is included in the price of admission and runs until December 2023, when the reinvigorated Oceanarium reopens to the public.
