Tiny punch!
If you’re looking to enter the projection sphere on a budget and with a small footprint, then the Magcubic HY310X mini might be your solution a not only is it compact but delivers strong performance for its size and price range. The HY310X uses a native 1080p panel with support for 4K input so images remain sharp and detailed rather than washed out.
Brightness is rated at 420 ANSI lumens which means the projector performs best in dim or dark rooms, however it is still usable in spaces with some ambient light though it will not match high end home theater brightness. Even though the projector is small, it needs to be powered by a mains connection and it’s a shame that it could not be powered by USB to add additional portability. Nonetheless, it’s an impressive little device for its price!

Unboxing
Setup and optics are straightforward thanks to an autofocus system and vertical keystone correction that adjust quickly and save you from fiddling with manual focus rings or distorted images when the projector is not perfectly aligned. The included 180-degree swivel stand makes placement flexible for wall ceiling or angled surfaces and that flexibility helps when space is limited.
Once turn on, I simply followed the wizard which included connecting it to my Wi-Fi and it also downloaded the latest firmware to fix a few issues. I was up in no time and the user interface was straightforward, without any convoluted menus.
The HY310X runs Android 11 with Google Play Store access so you can install streaming apps (e.g. Netflix, Disney+) directly without needing an external streaming device. It supports Wi Fi 6 and offers Miracast and AirPlay for wireless screen mirroring from Android and Apple devices which makes streaming from phones and tablets simple. You can also connect gaming consoles directly into the projector for those larger-than-life gaming sessions.
The built in speakers are serviceable for casual viewing but they lack depth and volume for a true cinematic experience so pairing the projector with external speakers or a soundbar is recommended for richer audio. For those times when you want to watch a quick TV show or even a movie, without connecting an external speaker, the projector is adequate.
And the video quality? I was impressed… clear and sharp images with vibrant colours.
Performance for media playback is smooth thanks to the Allwinner H713 processor and even Ghosts of Yotei (a PlayStation 5 game) played very well on the HY310X, including the latest Taylor Swift music videos and the new Superman movie. Fan noise is relatively quiet within its class which helps keep the viewing experience immersive at around 43 decibels which translate to a quiet room.
Final Thoughts?
The Magicube HY310X Mini Projector is a strong value for buyers who want a portable Full HD smart projector without breaking the bank but it is not a replacement for a high-end home theater projector. It offers clear visuals easy setup plus smart features that will satisfy most users seeking a budget 1080p projector.
