Liz Kingsman’s acclaimed One Woman Show comes to Melbourne in April

One Woman Show, “award-winning, deliciously intelligent spoof” (i newspaper) from from Australian expat performer Liz Kingsman, will premiere at Malthouse Theatre as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival from 11 April to 23 April 2023.

Direct from sold-out seasons at Sydney Opera House and London’s West End, One Woman Show has been nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play. The show has previously enjoyed hugely successful sell-out seasons at Soho Theatre London and Edinburgh Fringe, where it was nominated for the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show.

This critically acclaimed show-within-a-show is written and performed by Liz Kingsman “one of the fiercest voices in comedy” (Elle Australia). A parody of the genre it borrows its title from, it isboth “a blazingly clever skewering of the clichéd narratives around women’s lives” (i newspaper) and “gloriously stupid” (The Telegraph).

With universal five star reviews, One Woman Show has been deemed the show of the moment, with critics hailing it “the greatest breakthrough show of the past 12 months” (The Times), “The hottest ticket of the year” (Time Out London), and even prompting audiences to “do everything legal you can to get a ticket” (Evening Standard).

Liz Kingsman says: “I am thrilled to return to Australia’s cosmopolitan shores with One Woman Show to seek out another wave of fun Australian audiences.

It’s been a long-time dream to bring something to the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (a comedy show ideally) so this opportunity is very exciting and deeply convenient.”
