HMD Global releases new ultra-tough Nokia XR21

HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, today launches Nokia XR21, the smartphone that cures ‘phone-xiety’ – the fear of dropping, damaging or not having a working phone – thanks to its certifiably tough durability and reassuring two-day battery life.

Nokia XR21 is drop, dust, and waterproof. It withstands everything from tumbling out of your trouser pocket and hitting the ground screen first to hiking in torrential rain for 72 hours.

The Nokia XR21 is crafted around a die-cast 100% recycled aluminum chassis, and is protected by a body made of durable materials and Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus® display, all designed and certified to withstand impacts.

Brenden Folitarik, HMD Global’s Country Manager for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, says: “We know Australians love their smartphones and that they go through a lot of wear and tear in their lifetime. From parents of toddlers, to tradies and outdoor adventure-lovers, the Nokia XR21 has been built for every day and for everyone.

“We’re so confident, you can take the Nokia XR21 anywhere in Australia where you can capture those special moments, and should the worst happen, we offer a one-year screen replacement guarantee,” Brenden adds.

Drop, dust and waterproof

The deliberate design and high-quality materials used throughout the Nokia XR21 – including a super-tough screen and impact-proof back cover – cure people’s phone anxieties from low battery to a cracked screen.

It’s been certified for MIL-STD-810H durability, making it drop-proof, dust-proof and waterproof. In addition, during internal testing, the Nokia XR21 survived being dropped from 1.8m, as well as being submerged in 1.5m of water for up to an hour, and hit with the same pressure as a 1450 PSI jet of water with a water temperature of 80°C heat.

Handle extreme temperatures and gaps in charging

The Nokia XR21’s durability extends to its battery life. It can last two days between charges. Plus, when you’re caught in unpleasant or extreme weather, the Nokia XR21 is up to the task.

It can withstand and be used in temperatures between -20°C to +55°C – the latter is one degree shy of the hottest air temperature recorded on Earth, in California’s Death Valley. And the 6.49” screen can be used with wet hands, in the rain, or while wearing gloves. Perfect for lasting through a weekend festival, day-long hike or bike ride, or family trip without a charger.

AI-powered entertainment

Stereo speakers with OZO playback deliver immersive sound to pick up every detail of videos, songs and podcasts – perfect for summer picnic entertainment when you’re listening with your friends. The best AI-powered imaging algorithms found on Nokia devices like AI Portrait, Night Mode 2.0, and Flash Shot ensure you capture memories in excellent quality. For noisy environments, the 96 dB stereo speakers come with Audio boost mode, help you hear amped up sounds over background noise. And two Quick Access buttons let you get to your favourite apps and features even quicker.

Safe and secure, inside and out

The Nokia XR21 guarantees four years of monthly security updates, three years of OS upgrades, three years of warranty and a one-year screen replacement guarantee. Protecting you online, as well as your smartphone from what life throws at it.

Pricing and availability

The new Nokia XR21 will be available in Midnight Black and Pine Green from JB-HiFi in mid May, from $799. For further information, please visit nokia.com/phones/en_au or jbhifi.com.au
