Feminist blogger and pop culture commentator Jill Pantozzi visits Brisbane for the first time!

Acclaimed pop culture commentator Jill Pantozzi will be appearing in conversation with Maria Lewis at the Contact Banquet on Saturday 26 March.

Best known for her work with feminist geek website The Mary Sue, Pantozzi is a critical commentator and advocate of gender, disability and access in pop culture and media, and has reviewed extensively across film, TV, comics, and fan-culture for MTV, Publishers Weekly, Newsarama, and Comic Book Resources.

Jill will be in Australia to appear at the 55th National Speculative FIction Convention (Contact), a four-day program of discussion and creativity that brings creators and fans together in a shared learning and development environment.
Speaking with debut Sydney author, and pop culture commentator, Maria Lewis, Jill will be the special Guest of Honour at the Contact Banquet. On the agenda for the night are topics such as her editorial career and curation of digital media, particularly her tenure at The Mary Sue, the opportunities for publication in social media, the continuing challenges of representation in comics and pop culture, and her advocacy work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Guests have the pleasure of a two-course meal plus dessert, Guest of Honour presentation, and access to the Contact Masquerade to follow. The Banquet provides a unique networking and social event for writers, creators, craftsman and fans of pop culture and speculative fiction.
