Welcome back to Geoff Johns and Gary Frank’s epic series, Doomsday Clock that returns readers to an incarcerated Rorschach (aka Reggie) from the Watchmen Universe who is now in Arkham Asylum courtesy of Batman. This issue serves as an ‘origin’ for Reggie who for the most part had a relatively normal life for a person in the 20th century, until he claims the mantle of Rorschach.

Unfortunately for Rorschach and this new inmate of Arkham, he has come under the gaze of Dr Matthew Mason which triggers more memories from his history that rattles this broken man to his core. Thankfully for the new Rorschach, he has a friend in what appears to be Saturn Girl who was first seen again in Rebirth #1 as the issue ends.

Although quite a wordy comic, Johns manages to draw you into the plight of Rorschach as he dances between the past and the present. However Doomsday Clock #4 unfortunately felt like a filler and with a limited number of issues, I was hoping for something a little more substantial. Nonetheless, it was still an interesting read that was beautifully illustrated by Gary Frank who successfully brings these two universes together.

Final Thoughts?

Doomsday Clock #4 is a slow issue as John tells a tale of a broken man, now trapped in the DCU with some interesting elements and cameos found along the way.
