Silly Season!

Written and illustrated by Bill Cotter, Don’t Push the Button! A Christmas Adventure is a fun story about Larry the monster who tries everything he can to stop the reader from pushing the ‘button’. However the button gets the better of Larry as he then changes his tune in order to get the reader to push the button.

So as reader pushes the button on the page, all sorts of strange things occur to Larry from turning into a candy cane, asking the reader to clap their hands to help him turn back to normal or making him turn green. Although the illustrations are simplistic, they do channel this Saturday morning cartoon feel to them which works really well with the story.

Also, Bill Cotter has a knack to creating a fun story as his words and although a little short, it helps tell the story of the mischievous Larry who ends up in all sorts of chaos with lots of humour thrown in. Furthermore, the story has this real Christmas feel to it, including cameos from elves to Rudolf the Reindeer and even Santa himself.

Final Thoughts?

Don’t Push the Button! A Christmas Adventure is a fun book that younger children will adore as they push the button for Larry and get involved in all sorts of hi-jinx with this lovable purple monster.
