Australian, Dan “Astroboy” De Sousa, qualifies for the Quake World Championships

The Quake World Championships North American regional qualifier took place last weekend, and Australian player, Dan “Astroboy” De Sousa, came away with a victory, securing a spot at the Quake World Championships being held at QuakeCon in Dallas, Texas, August 25-28 AEST. Dan “Astroboy” De Sousa will be fighting to take out the title of world champion and a share of the $1,000,000 USD prize pool!

Meanwhile Australians, Andrew ‘Python’ Cha Cham of JAM Gaming, and Frazer ‘Fraze’ Hockley, David ‘ZenAku’ Addati and Tyler ‘Steej’ Joseph of Corvidae will be competing at The Quake Champions BYOC (bring your own computer) tournament at QuakeCon, in an attempt to also secure their spots in the Quake World Championships.

New beta patch

In other news, the latest patch for Quake Champions Closed Beta Test (CBT) 13 went live late last week. The updates include:

  • New Play Now screen
  • New announcer voice
  • New social screens
  • Balance tweaks, fixes and much more
