At 192 pages, The Art of Tom Clancy’s The Division retails for $49.99AUD (June 2016) and is jam packed with amazing imagery from its development with some great accompanying information about the art which adds an interesting perspective on it, especially if you have played the game. For me, it fleshes out the environments, characters and more importantly the factions that are showcased in the game.

In terms of story, Tom Clancy’s The Division is an open world team-based shooter that takes place in the not so distant future that sees New York City devastated due to a pandemic that is sweeping through the streets. As a result, the pillars of society start falling one by one and in order to save the city, an autonomous unit of tactical agents called ‘The Division’ are called into action.

Interestingly enough, these people are almost like sleeper agents as they attempt the impossible in order to re-establish order which is also where this game shines. It’s definitely a great premise and this hardcover book explores this video game with some stunning sketches and concept art that really jumps out of you. Another cool aspect about this book is the foreword by David Polfeldt who was the managing director of the game development company behind this team-based shooter and he adds his own unique twist into the creation of the game and the art style used.

Final Thoughts?

If you’re a fan of Ubisoft’s The Division then I could happily recommend this book to you because it boasts stunning artwork, great behind the scenes information and some interesting titbits that goes hand-in-hand with the video game itself. Even if you have never played the game but interested in the creation of video games or its artwork, then this book is also right up your alley and makes an excellent coffee book or conversation piece.
