Amazon launches new Kindle Scribe lineup in Australia
As Australians increasingly struggle to switch off in an always-on world, Amazon today announced its all-new Kindle Scribe lineup is coming to Australia next month, reimagined from the ground up to support deeper focus, clearer thinking and meaningful productivity. The lineup includes the next-generation Kindle Scribe, with and without a front light, and the first-ever colour Kindle Scribe — Kindle Scribe Colorsoft. All three devices are available for pre-order starting today and will begin shipping on 10 June 2026.
New research highlights growing focus fatigue among Australians, with 22% saying constant interruptions are impacting their ability to properly disconnect, while 17% struggle to stay focused on a single task. In response, many are seeking more intentional ways to reset, with one in three (33.4%) turning to focused activities like reading to properly switch off. Designed to minimise distractions and support uninterrupted thinking, the new Kindle Scribe lineup combines reading, writing and AI-powered organisation tools in one paper-like device.
“Australians are increasingly looking for ways to create moments of uninterrupted focus in a world full of constant notifications and distractions,” says Jacqui Corbett, Amazon Devices Country Manager, Australia and New Zealand. “The new Kindle Scribe lineup is designed to support clearer thinking, deeper focus and more intentional productivity, whether that’s journaling, planning your week, reading without interruptions, or capturing ideas as they happen. With Kindle Scribe Colorsoft, we’re also introducing colour note-taking and organisation tools that make planning, prioritising and creative work feel even more intuitive.”
A new paper-like design that’s thinner, lighter, and faster
The new Kindle Scribe range is ultra-thin (5.4 mm), ultra-light (400 g), and 40% faster for writing and page turns, with a larger 11-inch glare-free display, meaning it feels effortlessly light in your hand, easy to slip into any bag, and instantly responsive whenever inspiration strikes.
That spacious glare-free screen gives users more room to read, sketch, or plan their day, whether sitting on the couch, commuting, or relaxing outdoors. Brighter, more even lighting keeps things comfortable on the eyes, while the paper-like writing surface makes every note feel natural and satisfying. With faster performance, ideas flow smoothly without lag or distraction, turning everyday moments into opportunities to read, think, and create.
A colour writing experience that’s easy on the eyes
Kindle Scribe Colorsoft features the same new design with a fluid colour writing experience powered by custom Colorsoft display technology and a new rendering engine. Colours are soft and easy on the eyes, with weeks of battery life and no distracting apps, notifications or social feeds, creating a more intentional space for reading, thinking and creativity.
All new productivity features including an AI-powered notebook
The lineup includes a powerful AI-powered notebook and redesigned tools for productivity, including:
- All-new home screen with Quick Notes for jotting down ideas on the go
- Google Drive and OneDrive support for easy document import and annotated PDF export
- AI-powered search across notebooks with summaries and follow-up questions
- OneNote integration to export notes as text or images
- 10 pen colours, 5 highlighter colours, and a new shader tool for artists and creatives
- Workspace to organise documents, notebooks, and books in one folder
As more Australians seek tools that help reduce distraction and reclaim uninterrupted attention, Kindle Scribe is designed to create a calmer, more focused digital experience for reading, note-taking and everyday organisation. Of course, Kindle Scribe is a notebook and Kindle in one, with access to Amazon’s e-book store, mirroring everything customers love about Kindle.
Accessories
The new accessories range for Kindle Scribe has been thoughtfully designed to complement the device, including a plant-based flip cover (Matcha and Graphite) from $129.95, a leather flip cover (Fig and Graphite) from $169.95, and a leather folio cover (Fig, Graphite and Caramel) from $199.95. Each accessory is purpose-built for the new Kindle Scribe, featuring a sleek, slim design and a robust magnetic attachment that securely holds the device in place for comfortable, extended use.
For those seeking a more premium finish, the leather folio covers are crafted from full-grain leather, offering a soft, refined feel with a timeless aesthetic. Across the range, added functionality is front of mind, with covers that fold into a built-in stand, allowing for both low- and high-angle positions for effortless, hands-free reading.
