WETA Workshop Classic Series Galadriel of the White Council Statue (Product Review)
Thank you, San Diego Comic Con for emboldening the fine folks at WETA Workshop to introduce the one sale to rule them all. Specifically, up to 50% off the price of select items and free shipping to include from NZ. As a US resident, I couldn’t say no to this.
The prize of this hunt was a Classic Series Galadriel of the White Council Statue featured in The Hobbit. Standing at an impressive 15’’ plus, this gorgeous polystone statue is 1:6th scale and an Open Series collectible (meaning not numbered or Limited).
Sculptor Jane Wenley did an amazing job capturing Cate Blanchett as the Lady of Lorien, down to her trademark gaze and pose. Galadriel’s hair glistens in a lifelike wavy pattern down to the middle of her back, her stunning dress captured in a corkscrew pose floating on the rocky platform below. It is displayed under a blue LED, which truly makes it shine.
Thus, and for Lord of the Rings fans, note this depiction of Galadriel is exactly as seen in this movie series as well. Her soft features, true purpose in her eyes, and confident stance are all featured in this terrific statue.
Truth be told, I’m often hesitant to purchase higher end statues of actual people, as usually I’m disappointed in how they are conveyed. Hence why most of my several higher end WETA Workshop offerings are of non-humans or those (see: Geralt) barely resembling one in depiction.
Galadriel is the rarest of instances where I’m genuinely impressed in how the 1:6 scale statue captures the essence of the character versus actress and is nicely paired with the Galadriel phial prop replica seen alongside it. (Take that, Shelob!)
Another great and consistent aspect of purchasing from WETA Workshop is their items are always perfectly packaged. I’m yet to receive one except in pristine condition, albeit repackaging the Doors of Durin due to a move resulting in slight breakage of some tree limbs. Galadriel, as expected, arrived wonderfully protected and in one piece.
Final Thoughts
WETA Workshop’s Classic Series Galadriel of the White Council is a magnificent statue which captures the character perfectly. Attention to detail is high, and a brilliant depiction of a key Tolkien figure.
