Universal Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is releasing 12 Monkeys: Season One on Blu-ray™ with UltraViolet™ & DVD from August 6, 2015.
A man from the post-apocalyptic future, Cole (Aaron Stanford), utilises a dangerous and untested method of time travel to get from 2043 to the present day. He is on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague, created by the enigmatic organisation known as “The Army of the Twelve Monkeys”, that will eventually annihilate the human race. Assisting him is Dr. Cassandra Railly (Amanda Schull), a virologist who must decide whether to do harm in order to save the world, despite the fact that she has taken a Hippocratic Oath.
Based on Terry Gilliam’s 1995 film of the same name, which starred Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt, 12 Monkeys is an American sci-fi series created by Nikita’s Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett. The thrilling new adaptation stars X-Men’s Aaron Stanford as protagonist and chrononaut James Cole, alongside televisions’ Amanda Schull (Suits), Kirk Acevedo (The Walking Dead) and Noah Bean (Damages).
The series commences in the year 2017, where a deadly plague is released, killing seven billion people worldwide and causing civilisation to collapse. In 2043, a team of scientists led by Jones (Barbara Sukowa) recruit Cole to go back in time and kill a man named Leland Frost (Željko Uvanek) to prevent the creation of the plague. Cole travels back to 2013, where he kidnaps virologist Cassandra Railly and interrogates her about Frost’s whereabouts. Upon discovering Railly does not know who Frost is, Cole tells Railly to meet him again in two years before disappearing.
