Xbox Developer_Direct News: “Fable,” “Forza Horizon 6,” “Beast of Reincarnation” Updates + Surprise Double Fine Reveal
Today’s Xbox Developer_Direct kicked off a massive 2026 for Xbox, with deep dives into some of the year’s most anticipated games, straight from the teams building them.
The development teams at Playground Games showed off their two (!) major releases this year, Forza Horizon 6 and Fable. Game Freak shared more about Beast of Reincarnation, and Double Fine Productions had a surprise new game announcement with Kiln.
All games in the broadcast arrive day one with Game Pass Ultimate and support Xbox Play Anywhere. Today’s broadcast included news about the following:
· Forza Horizon 6, which launches May 19 and brings the franchise to Japan for the first time. Playground Games shared the first-ever gameplay footage, showcasing its largest and densest map of any Horizon game to date, as well as new features. · Fable, a brand-new beginning for the legendary Fable franchise, and one of the most-anticipated games of 2026. Today Playground Games confirmed an Autumn 2026 release, and provided the deepest look yet at how it is reimagining Albion – and the lives of its heroes! – for a new generation of RPG fans. · The announcement of Kiln, an online multiplayer pottery-party brawler from Double Fine launching Spring 2026. Players will (literally) shape their battle destiny by crafting ceramic armor with a variety of combat abilities. · Beast of Reincarnation, a “one-person, one-dog action RPG” set in post-apocalyptic Japan – and announced today, launching Summer 2026. Game Freak shared more about their first AAA game outside of the Pokémon series, including a unique combat system that blends fast-paced action attacks with tactical complexity.
