Summary: Who are these people? This is not the X-men. I’m ready for Krakoa to end. Maybe next issue there won’t be so much blood. Save that for Blood Hunt in a few months.

Ugh.

Background – Lockheed and the girls reunite!

Writing – Alight, let’s do this. Lockheed, Magik, and Shadowcat reunite. That’s it. There, I got the good part out of the way. Now for the rest.

X-MEN DO NOT KILL. The one exception to this is Wolverine and he doesn’t do it willy nilly. I get it, Orchis is supposed to be this big bad that is coming after the mutants, and I gave Shadowcat a pass right after the Gala because she was obviously suffering PTSD and in a rage killed that strike team. But since then? Since then EVERY SINGLE X-men is just running around killing people. Everything we’ve read about Katherine Pryde for the past 40 or so years says that she would have been horrified at what she did after the Gala and she would spend time trying atone. But this is not that Kitty Pryde. This Kitty just runs around killing Orchis agents everywhere. In other books we have Nightcrawler of all people just randomly teleporting people into space. All this murder flies in the face of 60 plus years of storytelling. These people have obviously been through the wringer, but this is still an X-MEN comic. I wish the characters would somewhat act like it.

Art – The art is great! Except for the pages doused in blood. The best page (panel) of the book is definitely the moment where the girls reunite with Lockheed. If I’m correct, this is the first time in years the 3 of them have been together and the first time since the Gala Kitty has seen Lockheed. It’s a very sweet moment and the art perfectly encapsulates the girls reuniting with their pet.

Final Thoughts – This is not the X-men. This is a bunch of heroes who have completely lost their way. Except Cyclops. The ONE panel he appears in feels like an X-men book. The art is nice when not bloody. I’m ready for Krakoa to end. Maybe next issue there won’t be so much blood. Save that for Blood Hunt in a few months.

Final score: 1 out of 5
