DEL PIERO CROWNED A-LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE YEAR – REVEALS FOOTBALL MANAGER 2013™

SYDNEY, AUSTALIA – 4th October 2012 – Alessandro Del Piero will have an impressive first season in the A-League  according to a simulation carried out on Football Manager 2013™  by Sports Interactive, the makers of the Football Manager series. The world-class Italian, who joined Sydney FC earlier this month, was crowned A-League Player of the Year in the simulation.

If you are anticipating Del Piero’s performance in the coming A-League season, Football Manager 2013 reveals exactly how the Sydney FC star player will perform. In addition to having been crowned A-League Player of the Year, Del Piero also scored freely and added a number of assists to his team-mates efforts.

The former Juventus legend looks set to re-invigorate the A-League and the simulation saw an increase in attendances across the league as well as increased merchandise sales for Sydney FC. The rest of the league had to raise their game to stop Del Piero and Sydney with the other big off-season signing, Emile Heskey, performing very well for the Jets with an average rating of 7.00 and a tally of seven goals in 24 games.

“This is going to be a big season for the A-League – and not just because of the arrival of a couple of big-name European players,” says Miles Jacobson, Studio Director of Sports Interactive. “It will also be interesting to see the impact made by the arrival of Western Sydney and the introduction of the new play-off system… both of which feature in Football Manager 2013. With all of this going on, we thought it would be fun to have a look ahead and see how the A-League season might pan out.”

It is yet to be seen whether Sports Interactive’s simulation results are replicated throughout the season, however Del Piero and Heskey certainly look set to shine when the new A-League season gets underway.

Football Manager 2013 will be published by SEGA on November 2nd 2012 for PC and MAC.
