Summary: The Withings ScanWatch 2 is a gorgeous modern tech timepiece with a wealth of features and excellent battery life

Smarts and Looks!
Undeniably the Withings ScanWatch 2 is a gorgeous piece of technology that creates a timeless hybrid smartwatch which comes with a wealth of real-world usable features. More importantly, it boasts a battery life of up to 35‑days and includes all‑day health tracking with a medical‑grade ECG (electrocardiogram) that detects any signs of arrhythmia right from your wrist. Alongside heart rate monitoring, it tracks temperature variations and provides detailed sleep metrics through its advanced algorithms.
From a female perspective, it’s been designed to monitor cycles (such as symptoms and flow trends) and for older women, it can help track phases and mood changes during perimenopause and menopause. If fitness is your game, the Withings ScanWatch 2 supports respiratory and on‑demand SpO₂ tracking and, through your smartphone’s GPS, it can keep a record of your distance, pace and elevation. Additionally, the watch can set reminders, track over 40 different activities, help with diet logging and allow you to set personalised health and fitness goals directly through the app.

Unboxing
The overall build quality of the ScanWatch 2 cannot be faulted and it exudes high‑end aesthetics. It carries a quietly luxurious presence that feels far more like a premium timepiece than a health gadget. Withings leans into classic watchmaking cues—polished stainless‑steel cases, a domed sapphire glass lens and finely machined edges that catch the light in a way you normally only see on high‑end analogue watches. The proportions are deliberate and elegant: slim enough to slip under a cuff, substantial enough to feel like a real piece of wristwear.
The analogue dial gives it a timeless, almost dress‑watch presence, while the discreet OLED display blends into the face so cleanly that it never breaks the illusion of a traditional watch. Even the rotating crown has a satisfying, mechanical precision to it, reinforcing that sense of craftsmanship. Paired with metal, leather or fluoroelastomer straps, the ScanWatch 2 feels like a luxury accessory first and a health powerhouse second—something you can wear to a meeting, a night out or a workout without ever looking out of place.
Setup
Setting up the Withings ScanWatch 2 is like other smart devices (thanks to Bluetooth) and once you have downloaded the accompanying app, you simply follow the wizard that will have you up and running (pun intended) in no time.
Navigation is handled entirely through the rotating crown on the right side of the watch: rotate to scroll through menus such as heart rate, steps, ECG, SpO₂, temperature, workouts, notifications and settings, then press to select. A short press confirms choices, while a long press starts or stops certain functions such as workouts. All customisation—such as which notifications appear, display settings and health features—is managed either through the watch’s settings menu or the Withings app on your phone. To charge, the ScanWatch 2 uses its own proprietary charger (my only gripe), which feels a little cheaper compared to the watch’s premium build.
The Withings app is another highlight, offering an excellent UI that makes navigating your health and fitness data effortless. As a hybrid smartwatch, the ScanWatch 2 also supports notifications such as calls, texts and app messages.
The App
The watch syncs with the app to display a wide range of health metrics, including heart rate, resting heart rate, ECG readings, SpO₂ levels, breathing disturbances, sleep stages, sleep score, temperature trends, steps, distance, calories, elevation, VO₂ Max estimates and detailed workout data. All of these core measurements are fully accessible without paying for anything extra. The optional Withings+ subscription doesn’t unlock new sensors or tracking, but instead adds deeper analysis and personalised guidance—things like advanced sleep and cardiovascular insights, long‑term trend breakdowns, daily health “missions,” structured fitness and wellness programs, habit tracking and tailored coaching based on your data. In short, the free tier gives you all your health information, while Withings+ layers on interpretation, coaching and long‑term behavioural tools.
The ScanWatch 2 delivers a standout 35‑day battery life, far exceeding typical smartwatches and making true 24/7 health tracking practical. Its biggest upgrade is a new AI‑powered health system in HealthSense 4 OS, which analyses 35 biomarkers to provide predictive insights, including a Vitality Indicator and alerts for potential illness or upcoming menstrual cycles. Design‑wise, it keeps the classic analogue‑watch aesthetic Withings is known for, now with a fresh 42mm blue and silver option. It tracks an extensive range of metrics: REM sleep, continuous heart rate via PPG, ECG on demand, temperature through TempTech 24/7 and automatic activity detection. The companion app lets users prioritise key metrics, while the Withings+ subscription adds deeper analytics, an AI assistant and optional cardiologist ECG review.
Final Thoughts
The Withings ScanWatch 2 stands out as one of the most refined hybrid smartwatches on the market, blending traditional watchmaking elegance with genuinely useful health technology. Its exceptional battery life, medical‑grade sensors and deep integration with the Withings app make it a powerful companion for anyone serious about long‑term wellness. While the proprietary charger and limited on‑wrist smart features may deter those wanting a full smartwatch experience, the ScanWatch 2 excels at what it sets out to do: deliver reliable, unobtrusive, 24/7 health tracking in a beautifully crafted timepiece. For users who value style, accuracy and longevity over flashy apps, it’s an outstanding choice that feels as good to wear as it is informative to use.
