Further, the solar panel keeps the rechargeable battery topped up for extended use, so you rarely need to think about charging, that is dependent on its positioning towards the sun. With solar support it becomes a set and forget system designed for continuous operation, however the heavy use of live view or continuous recording can drain the battery faster so full sun placement of the solar panel is a must. During our testing, the camera’s battery has remained at 100% daily which really makes this security device a true set and forgot cordless system.

Tapo also provides accessories to help you mount it outside, including pictographs for best placement. The solar panel also comes with a long cable for attaching it directly onto the camera or positioning it elsewhere to maximise sunlight.
