Australian wonder!

I loved today’s sun.
and I am going to love tomorrows sun too.

Today’s sun is the unique book by Kamilaroi creator Gregg Dreise that is a celebration of Australian animals under our sun. While not a story per se, it is a small snapshot into the lives of Australian animals that include possums, kookaburras, kangaroos, emus, tawny frogmouths, koalas, wombats and finally us.

However what makes this book so unique are the amazing illustrations of Gregg Dreise who brings his heritage to life with his stylised indigenous art that is not only detailed but interestingly showcased in black and white that really makes this title stand out from other children’s books. Adding to the art is the succinct text that adds to the snapshot of these animals such as…

“As today’s sun thawed,
I bounced around like a joyful kangaroo.”

“As today’s sun faded,
I snuggled like a little, fuzzy koala.”

Final Thoughts?

In the end, Today’s Sun is a beautiful celebration of two examples of what makes Australia so great, the sun and its amazing collection of animals that is brought to life by Kamilaroi creator Gregg Dreise in a truly spectacular fashion.
