Tainted Grail: The Fall Of Avalon Collector’s Edition

The release of Tainted Grail: The Fall Of Avalon is nearly upon us, and what better way to prepare than to grab the Collector’s Edition?

The collection comes in an impressively sized box adorned with lovely art. Upon opening, you’re presented with very nicely secured layers of goodies.

Contents include:

  • An impressively detailed King Arthur painted statue, over 37 cm tall.
  • A beautiful, hard-covered artbook with 104 pages filled with stunning images.
  • An atmospheric metal poster sized 42 cm x 30 cm.
  • A classy steel book for the digital copy of the game (this was not included in my review copy as it wasn’t quite ready for press).
  • A notebook for your very own game-inspired sketches, sized 21 cm x 14.8 cm.
  • A 3D, statue-like metal magnet, sized 4.8 cm x 4.6 cm x 2.4 cm.
  • A metal coin from the universe of Tainted Grail.
  • A mouse and keyboard pad with a world map, sized 80 cm x 30 cm.

Everything in this collection shows a lot of care has been put into the production. The coin and the magnet being metal lends a real authenticity to them that wouldn’t have been possible if they were simply made of plastic.

The keyboard and mouse pad isn’t just a functional item (though it certainly is that), it’s also a beautiful game map in the classic fantasy style. The metal poster not only looks intimidating (you might even say it looks “metal!”) but also comes with adhesive material on the back to help with putting it up.

The artbook (and the notebook, as it also features many sketches) is a lovely, and in some cases grotesque, exploration of the game world and its inhabitants. There’s no text, so it feels a bit like an abridged version of a full-sized art book. I could imagine a more extensive art book might be released later, as this world is full of fascinating design work.

Of course, there’s also the statue. At over 37cm tall, it is literally and figuratively the standout of this box set. King Arthur himself, as depicted in the game, looks every bit the fierce warrior. It is both intimidating and perhaps somewhat concerning. An impressive piece to display in your gaming area that will surely put you in the mood to play the game.

Final Thoughts?

The legend of King Arthur has been around for hundreds of years and has been retold countless times. It can be a risky move taking on something so familiar to people, but Awakened Realms and Questline look like they’ve done an amazing job of making the story their own in a way that doesn’t feel disrespectful to the original. The collector’s edition is a brilliant way of immersing yourself further into the mythos of the game!

A huge thanks to Publisher Awakened Realms and developer Questline Studio for sending this box set; it really is a fantastic collection and shows the teams’ investment in the world they have created.
