Supergirl's dream

Supergirl’s last day on Krypton is explored in this story, but everything is not as it seems as it is all in her mind from the Batman Who Laughs infecting her with a virus.

The Superman origin story is well known as it seems to be repeated a lot in the movies and other adaptations but this is the first time I have seen a version for Supergirl.

I did like the mundane details like Supergirl competing in an inter-city sporting championship, getting a scholarship and babysitting her cousin the baby Superman. The boy she has a crush on sneaks over and she has her first kiss. The earthquakes on the planet had been increasing and her parents beg her to leave the planet. Cut to deep space and the Batman who laughs tells her she is finally “free” of her past.

The story and artwork does seem very polished and it does make sense in the wider universe of the comics. I do not know that much about “the Batman who laughs” or how he fits into this particular story however.

I would recommend this one if you are a fan of the Supergirl story. Not too sure about having to buy comics from two different series to follow it up. Pick one and stick to it I reckon.
