Stellar Blade x GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE DLC Review (PC, PS5)

With Stellar Blade just released on PC via Steam and Steam Deck, it is nothing short of spectacular. Developers Shift Up continue their homerun streak with their latest collaboration — the Stellar Blade x GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE DLC that brings two franchises together.

For the uninitiated, players get to see Scarlet in the Stellar Blade universe as Shift Up introduce a handful of sci-fi shooting games and, once you defeat the new boss, Eve is awarded a new costume and hairstyle.

Additionally, you can access a new shop owned by the robotic Volt from Goddess of Victory: Nikke, who can sell you more items from this universe. Fans of both series will also enjoy the ability to fish in order to reel in six collectible items, again from this new universe brought into Stellar Blade.

In order to find Scarlet, you need to locate her on the map and, once you have, you can then head off into the Wasteland and Great Desert to engage in a handful of shooting mini-games and retrieve the missing item.

The shootouts are actually quite fun but the highlight is the Scarlet boss battle that really challenges the player — and damn, it was tough. Like previous DLC, it’s also all about the costumes, and the ones you can collect really celebrate the character of Scarlet, who perfectly fits into the universe of Stellar Blade.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a reason to re-visit the Stellar Blade universe on PS5, this is a fun installment, although very short but still worth the entry price. Nonetheless, there’s plenty to collect and, if you enjoy Goddess of Victory: Nikke, it’s a match made in gaming heaven.
