Steam Next Fest: Most-played demos

The February edition of Steam Next Fest is officially in its final stretch. With hundreds of free demos currently available for gamers to sink their teeth into, the competition for attention has been fierce. As we move past the halfway mark, Steam has released the official list of the top ten most-played demos of the event so far.

From highly-anticipated sequels to quirky indie surprises, this year’s lineup highlights the massive diversity currently driving the PC gaming scene.

The Leaders of the Pack

Leading the charge is Bungie’s Marathon, which has seen massive engagement as fans clamor for a taste of the legendary studio’s next evolution in the extraction shooter genre. Close behind is the addictive and frantic Vampire Crawlers, a “Turbo Wildcard” spin-off that captures the same “one more run” magic of its predecessor, Vampire Survivors.

The list also proves that players are still hungry for unique, offbeat experiences. Titles like Burglin’ Gnomes and the evolution-based Everything is Crab have carved out significant player bases, proving that a strong hook—no matter how strange—can still dominate the charts.

Here are the ten most-played demos of the festival so far:

  • Marathon: The return of a classic Bungie IP as a high-stakes extraction shooter.
  • Burglin’ Gnomes: A quirky heist-themed title that has captured player curiosity.
  • Windrose: A nautical adventure with strong exploration elements.
  • Vampire Crawlers: The chaotic next step from the world of Vampire Survivors.
  • Far Far West: Gritty, dusty, and action-packed Western vibes.
  • Outbound: An open-world exploration experience that’s been a hit with fans.
  • John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando: High-octane action meets the horror legend’s signature style.
  • Wanderburg: A journey-focused title that’s drawing in fans of atmosphere and world-building.
  • Fate Trigger: A sleek, competitive title that has maintained strong momentum.
  • Everything is Crab: A hilarious and inventive “Animal Evolution” Roguelite.

Don’t Miss Out

If you haven’t had a chance to dive into these titles yet, the clock is ticking. You have just a few days left to explore the festival, try out the demos for free, and secure your favorites on your wishlist.

The February edition of Steam Next Fest ends March 2nd at 10 a.m. Pacific. Whether you’re looking for the next big blockbuster or a hidden indie gem, now is the time to get downloading!
