Perfect sleeper

The latest sleep-bud incarnation from Anker, the Soundcore Sleep A30 Special, is easily the best pair I’ve tried so far. I was already impressed with the Soundcore A20s and A30s, but the A30 Special takes a good night’s sleep to another level.

These in‑ear buds come in four colours that include Mist Lilac Special, Moonlit White, Mist Green, and Lunar White Special, plus they are super lightweight at just 3 grams and use touch controls to navigate.

Soundcore includes a wide gamut of different sized ear wings and silicone tips for optimal comfort!

The Soundcore app is simple and intuitive to use. I recommend spending a bit of time during the day setting up your A30 Specials — follow the in-app instructions and choose your preferred sounds with quite a few to choose from, so kudos to Soundcore.

What really impressed me:

  • The triple noise-reduction works brilliantly, blocking out far more sound than previous versions.

  • The sound quality is excellent — perfect not just for sleep sounds but also for music or even phone calls.

  • The side buttons are far more responsive than before.

  • A wider selection of ear wings and ear tips ensures a much better fit.

  • The audio library is packed with content — sleep stories, meditations, brainwave audio, snore-masking tracks, white noise, and more.

If you’re a back sleeper, you’ll likely have no trouble getting used to these. As a side sleeper, I had to experiment with the different tips and wings to find the most comfortable fit. I also use them for long ASMR videos on YouTube — if I wake up in the night, I fall back asleep quickly. The app is also amazing at analysing your sleep!

Another cool feature is that if you lose one of the earbuds, you can use the app to “ring” it, plus you can also take calls which does come in handy.

Also, as the ANC on the A30 Special is tuned specifically for low frequencies (20–200Hz), this makes it world‑class for tinnitus sufferers and delivers them some much‑needed respite. Given that, the audio is impressive.

The only downside is battery life. In Bluetooth mode, they last around 5–6 hours, but in local mode, they’ll easily last all night. They pretty much completely masked the sound of my snoring dog.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the A30 Special delivers exceptional comfort, versatility, and performance. Highly recommended for anyone serious about better sleep and sound quality.
