Segway Celebrates Milestone of 1 Million E2 Series Electric KickScooters Sold Worldwide
Segway, the global leader in micromobility and personal transportation innovation, announced today that its Ninebot E-Series has reached a major milestone as the E2 model surpasses one million global sales. This achievement underscores how a clear, user-centric vision can drive widespread adoption. The Segway Ninebot E-Series is a cornerstone product line that has further shaped the brand’s presence in micromobility.
The Ninebot E-Series’ success stems from a focused understanding of how micromobility integrates into everyday life. Recognising the scooter’s critical role as a first and last-mile connector to public transit, Segway engineered the Ninebot E2 for a growing segment of first-time riders adopting electric kickscooters for daily commuting. Its lightweight build, compact portability and stable handling are designed to build rider confidence, simplify storage in home or office, and enable seamless transitions between buses, subways or trains, making multimodal travel more practical.
Segway’s user-first philosophy continues to evolve in the latest iteration of the E-Series. The newest Ninebot E3 generation builds on these insights with enhanced technology and innovation that improve durability, safety and everyday usability. Upgrades such as improved suspension, extended range and enhanced lighting systems are designed to deliver greater comfort and practicality for daily commuting.
Underpinning the Ninebot E-Series evolution is Segway’s integrated product development approach, which connects user insight, engineering and real-world validation into a continuous innovation cycle.
To ensure long-term reliability, the E-Series undergoes a rigorous validation process, including 270,000 bump cycles, 200,000 push-pull fatigue tests, and vibration testing simulating more than 12,400 miles (20,000 kilometres) of riding, ensuring structural integrity over years of use. It is designed to perform consistently in diverse environments, with IPX5 water resistance and an operating temperature range from 14°F to 115°F (-10°C to 45°C). Battery safety is supported by a multi-layer protection system featuring thermal isolation, AI powered temperature monitoring and redundant BMS controls designed to proactively identify and mitigate potential issues.
As the micromobility landscape matures, market leadership is increasingly defined not by isolated product launches, but by the sustained ability to integrate deep user insight, rigorous engineering and resilient global operations into a cohesive product ecosystem. Supported by a global team of engineers and sustained research and development investment, this framework enables Segway to rapidly translate market feedback into refined, scalable solutions, delivered consistently across more than 160 markets worldwide. The Ninebot E series’s journey from the best-selling E2 to the latest E3 models reflects this comprehensive approach.
