SCIENCEWORKS SPARKS YOUNG MINDS THESE WINTER SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
Step into a world of discovery, creativity and hands-on exploration these winter school holidays at Scienceworks.
From 5-20 July, families are invited to dive into a fun-filled STEM adventure designed to spark imaginations and ignite a lifelong love of science, technology, engineering and maths.
Get ready to build, create and explore at Tinkertown, Scienceworks’ new hands-on exhibition where kids and adults come together to build, play and think outside the (tool) box. With a nuts-and-bolts approach to learning, there’s cubby houses to construct, wacky contraptions to invent, engineering puzzles to solve and the interactive village Tinkertown to build.
Imaginations will spark with Science Studio workshops. Through active experimentation, budding scientists explore static electricity using everyday materials that are easy and safe to replicate at home. With a take home booklet filled with activity add-ons and extra experiments, the scientific exploration continues beyond the museum walls.
Eight-to-twelve-year-olds are invited to immerse themselves into the world of robotics design, creating code to transform their robot into a self-driving car. Tailored for intergenerational collaborative work, young learners and their adults will engage and collaborate with mBots and iPads to cultivate essential STEM skills such as problem-solving, creativity, and innovation to tackle challenges and debug code to reach a rewarding final objective.
Space fans are encouraged to visit the cosmos with the awe-inspiring Museum of the Moon, a stunning 4-metre installation that brings the lunar surface to the Planetarium before enjoying out-of-this world show exclusives at Melbourne Planetarium. From everyone’s favourite cheeky dog in Tycho Goes to Mars, to understanding and uncovering the mysteries of the universe, there’s something for all ages.
