Rise of the Footsoldier Part 2
Monday, February 29, 2016 – Feature Films is excited to announce the Blu-ray and DVD release of Rise of the Footsoldier Part 2. The bloody sequel to the home entertainment smash hit Rise of the Footsoldier will be out May 18.
1997: Two years on from the events that saw his mates gunned down in the now infamous Range Rover Murders, Carlton Leach (Ricci Harnett) is on a one way ticket to oblivion. His drinking is excessive and his cocaine habit would concern Tony Montana. His marriage is on the rocks and he’s convinced his days are numbered. Out in the night someone’s got a bullet with his name on it.
The world is changing. So too are the pubs and clubs. Cocaine has replaced ecstasy as the drug of choice. The underworld is playing catch up. Carlton’s extreme personality is better suited to football hooliganism than it is bouncing on a door. He has no qualms as to who he pisses off. And the list, as he soon discovers, is fast growing.
Rise of the Footsoldier 2 dramatises Carlton’s transition from ringleader of the Inter City Firm to gangster and it’s a violent curve aided in turn by the imposing presence of his mate the sadistic standover man Shawn (Luke Mably). Johnny Palmiero Coralie Rose, Andy Linden and Steven Berkoff all make vivid contributions in the ensemble cast.
Harnett, reprising his role from the first movie, also serves as writer-director. Rise of the Footsoldier Part 2 is profane, explosive and littered with macabre cockney humour. It has also been nominated for six UK National Film Awards 2016.
