Hollywood legend Meryl Streep (The Devil Wears Prada, Iron Lady) returns in a role like none other – a rock star singer and guitarist in Ricki and the Flash. Directed by Oscar® winning Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs) and written by Oscar® winning Diablo Cody (Juno, Young Adult), Ricki and the Flash is an insightful glimpse into family dynamics and the lure of the rock and roll lifestyle.
Ricki Rendazzo (Streep) said goodbye to her marriage, kids and normal life to travel the country as an electrifying rock star performer. Continually tormented by the guilt she feels at abandoning her family, Ricki is given a chance at redemption when her ex-husband Pete (Kevin Kline, Last Vegas, No Strings Attached) asks her to visit Indianapolis to help their estranged daughter Julie (Meryl Streep’s real-life daughter Mamie Gummer) through a difficult time.
When Ricki returns she is confronted by some harsh realisations – her children hate her, she hasn’t been invited to her son’s wedding and her daughter is struggling to accept her divorce. Ricki must face the music and put her own needs last to reconcile and win back the love of her family.
