Rebecca Black The Salvation Tour Review – 11/12/2025 at Forum, Melbourne

It isn’t every day you can say that the latest concert you attended from an international artist was both the last date on their worldwide tour and their biggest headline show to date. However, this is something everyone who went to see Rebecca Black at the Forum in Melbourne is lucky enough to claim.

Rebecca Black has had quite the music career so far. Bursting onto the scene with the infamous ‘Friday’ in 2011, she quickly gained internet popularity for all the wrong reasons. However, over a decade later, she has now become one of the best voices in pop music. From her hyperpop-laced tracks like ‘Personal’ and ‘Sugar Water Cyanide’ to powerful anthems like the title track of her latest album ‘Salvation’, it has been an absolute joy watching Rebecca Black’s star rise and finally get the acclaim she deserves.

While in the country for the Spilt Milk music festival, Rebecca Black has also been playing headline shows as part of the ‘The Salvation Tour’. The final of these shows, and indeed the final show on the entire tour, happened last Thursday in Melbourne at the beautiful Forum Theatre.

Kicking off the night was local trio Blusher, who quickly gained attention in 2022 for their high-energy, dance-focused approach to pop music. By the end of their 30-minute set, there was not a single body in the venue that was not moving. Blusher brought an infectious, fun vibe to the show, whether that was with their catchy hooks, superb production, or the fun choreography they showcased in their set. A good portion of the songs seamlessly transitioned from one to another, which was unique for a pop music act. A highlight from their set was a cover of Addison Rae’s ‘Diet Pepsi’, which was interspersed with a verse and a chorus from Charli XCX’s ‘Party 4 U’.

By the end of Blusher’s set, the entire room was ready for Rebecca Black, who quickly arrived on stage to deliver one of the best performances I have seen all year. Backed up by two dancers, this show had all the spectacle of a high-budget arena show, but also the smaller, intimate moments you would expect at a venue like the Forum.

This live show touched on all of the highlights from Rebecca’s discography. The entire tracklist of her recent album was played, as well as cuts from her 2023 debut record, and even her 2021 EP was shown a lot of love. As someone who has had her music on repeat throughout all of these releases, it was incredible to see it all played back-to-back over one unforgettable evening.

One of my favourite songs of hers is ‘Worth It for the Feeling’, which is a much slower song when compared to the rest of her material. Because of this, I was not expecting it to get played on this tour. Imagine my surprise when the stage was flooded in red light, the haze machine was turned up to the max, and the instrumental started to play. I mention this moment from the show as it highlights Rebecca Black’s voice and stage presence. A lot of fans in the room had probably heard the song before, but this performance made them listen. It felt like everyone was actually listening to the lyrics, relating to the emotions of the track, and soaring through the breathtaking chorus.

It was clear from her latest album that Rebecca’s career is only going to get bigger from here. This tour only proved that point further. If you’re a fan of pop music and are sleeping on Rebecca Black, then you’re sure to wake up and join the party soon. This live show has only made me more of a fan, and I cannot wait for the next time she comes to Australia.
