Raise the Colors: Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Sets Sail on July 9, 2026 (Sneak Peak, Preview)

Get ready to hoist the Jackdaw’s sails once more, because one of the most beloved entries in the entire franchise is getting the ground-up remake treatment. Ubisoft Singapore has officially revealed Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, a complete, modern rebuilding of the iconic 2013 pirate adventure.

The game is scheduled to launch on 9 July 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via the Ubisoft Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store).

Alongside the major breakdown of features, Ubisoft dropped a gorgeous new sneak peek video and a stunning batch of screenshots and concept art showcasing just how far the Caribbean has come over the last 13 years. Character faces look deeply expressive, lighting catches realistically across the ocean surface, and the tropical jungles look denser than ever.

The Caribbean Rebuilt: Visual & Technical Leap

Moving away from the pairing-animation style of the 2013 original, Resynced is fully rebuilt in the latest iteration of the Anvil engine. Ubisoft is pulling out all the stops for current-generation hardware, injecting modern visual pipelines into Edward Kenway’s playground:

  • Next-Gen Tech: Full integration of ray tracing and micropolygon rendering.

  • Atmospheric Weather: The brand-new dynamic weather system makes the Caribbean feel alive, with storm waves directly affecting ship navigation.

  • Environmental Destruction: Fully modernised, reactable environments mean objects split, splinter, and break during intense fort raids and sword fights.

Refining the Blade: Major Gameplay Overhauls

Ubisoft Singapore isn’t just updating the textures—they are fundamentally retuning how the game plays. The remake leans heavily back into its pure action-adventure roots while borrowing some of the slickest mechanical iterations from modern entries.

Visceral Combat & Expanded Stealth

The combat engine has been overhauled to feel much more demanding and precise. Button-mashing is out; tighter combos, manual parries, and distinct enemy archetypes (like the heavy-hitting Demolitionist) are in. Notably, the Hidden Blade has been revised to focus exclusively on stealth-only kills.

Stealth sections get a massive quality-of-life update. Players can now use a manual crouch-anywhere mechanic to stay low on land, alongside dive-anywhere features to approach enemy vessels quietly from the sea. Best of all? The notorious tailing missions have been completely redesigned—they will no longer instantly fail your sequence upon a single detection.

Parkour & Navigation

Edward’s movement across the rooftops of Havana and Kingston is smoother and vastly more responsive. The parkour system introduces manual jumps, quick interrupts, side ejects, and height-gaining back ejects to give you absolute control over your traversal line.

Fresh Horizon: New Story Content & Features

For veterans who know the original narrative inside out, Resynced adds significant meat to the bones of the story. Original writer Darby McDevitt has returned to pen entirely new scenes, specifically designed to explore the themes of pirate greed and Edward’s personal life, including a newly added sequence between Edward and his wife, Caroline.

A Focused Golden Age: The modern-day Abstergo office sequences from 2013 have been removed entirely, replaced with swift, narrative-driven memory rifts. Additionally, multiplayer and the Freedom Cry expansion are absent, allowing the studio to focus 100% on a pure, narrative-driven adventure tracking Edward’s mainline journey.

  • Expanded Alliances: Enjoy brand-new story arcs and dedicated missions featuring Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet.

  • Jackdaw Upgrades: Recruit brand-new narrative Officers to your ship, each bringing unique abilities to naval combat.

  • The Little Things: The game adds 10 brand-new sea shanties for your crew to bellow, a fully fledged Photo Mode, and customizable ship pets.
