RAINWERKS ANNOUNCES UPCOMING MAFIOSA NFT DROP!

The Roaring Twenties are back! With all the romanticism and brazen violence of mafia-dominated New York, Mafiosa sets the status quo ablaze–with style, class, and a smoking barrel this October when the first volume is released in comic shops and bookstores everywhere.

Today RainWerks, the development studio that brought Mafiosa to life on Kickstarter in a special introductory standalone story, announces that in conjunction with the upcoming release of this genre and gender-busting story, they will issue exclusive and limited edition NFTs in partnership with Blockibles, a soon-to-be launched digital collectibles platform, specializing in blockchain based items. This special one time offering will include one exclusive NFT of original art by Debora Carita that includes the license grant of full copyright ownership.

“We wanted to do something special,” said Thomas Brooke, Co-Founder of RainWerks and creator of Mafiosa. “Mafiosa is a look back to the 1920’s, reimagining that time and place and the story of organized crime through a young woman’s journey to prove herself the equal of any man. It’s at once an old story but also a fresh take utilizing contemporary themes of gender discrimination and social jumstice. The idea of an NFT appealed to us because it’s like taking an old photograph and capturing it in new and exciting ways,” explained Brooke.

“We are thrilled to work with RainWerks in issuing these special edition NFTs to commemorate the release of their TPB, Mafiosa,” said Sandro Brito, co-founder of Blockibles. “RainWerks understands some of the interesting possibilities that producing blockchain collectibles offers, and we are very excited to partner with them to present the truly unique and exciting Mafiosa NFT collection.”

The Mafiosa NFT drop, will be offered feature limited edition NFTs released on Blockibles.com. There are concerns about the environmental impact of releasing NFTs on popular NFT platforms that use the Ethereum blockchain. These concerns were well documented by French artist Joanie Lemercier who had originally released 6 NFTs on a leading NFT platform and then later learned that the release of those 6 NFTs consumed in 10 seconds more electricity than his entire studio over the past 2 years. Blockibles eco-friendly approach was designed expressly to address these concerns. The Blockibles platform integrates a carbon offset infrastructure with a calculated 99% more efficient, proof-of-stake model for minting NFTs. Blockibles can produce NFTs that deliver on all the promise and excitement of digital technologies but in ways that do not compromise our planet. , the exciting a new platform for issuing licensed NFTs.

“We decided to partner with Blockibles because their team combines leaders from the comic book industry and blockchain community,” said Brooke. “There’s lot of promise with this new way of producing collectibles but there’s also a great deal of sensitivity and concern about how NFTs are minted. We were impressed with Blockibles understanding of these issues and are confident that they have architected the right model for doing this in a fair and environmentally friendly and sustainable way.”
