New YouTube features announced

Sharing some news from YouTube, which at its “Made on YouTube” event today announced new products and innovations to power the next decade of creation, connection, and business.

The updates land as new data from Kantar revealed this month that Australian viewers rank YouTube as the #1 platform for streaming video content, outperforming all other platforms.

For viewers:

  • Stream on YouTube, your way: YouTube has made its largest upgrade to live streaming ever, including new tools announced for Live helping audiences discover content in both horizontal and vertical formats and the ability to react live to streams. Read all about the updates here
  • Tune in on YouTube: On YouTube Music, you’ll see the option to countdown to upcoming new releases and pre-save your favourites. Artists can also reward and connect with their top audiences.

For creators:

  • Streamline creativity on Shorts: Easier and more fun, creators can now make video backgrounds or clips with sound on Shorts with Google DeepMind’s Veo 3 Fast. Learn more here
  • YouTube Live for creators: There’s now an option to practice before going live – to give creators a way to test their setup with no risk. Playables have been introduced on Live, and now creators can play from the library of 75+ games live and monetise like any other broadcast.
  • Growth & tracking tools for creators in YouTube Studio: Use Collaborations with other creators to expand reach, and optimise your channel with A/B testing. Also, detect and manage videos made with AI using your facial likeness with the expanded likeness detection tool (coming soon). Dive deeper into Studio updates here.
  • Building brand to creator relationships: YouTube Shopping is expanding to more markets and merchants and getting help from AI to make tagging easier. Brand sites can also now be added to Shorts to make collabs easier. Learn more about updates to brand deals here.
