New Super Lucky’s Tale Review (PlayStation 5)
In today’s gaming age, there’s not enough quality platformers available and the last celebrated platformer on the PlayStation 5 was Astro Bot. However, a familiar face returns on the PS5 with New Super Lucky’s Tale, which is a refined and technically enhanced version of the already well‑liked platformer which utilises the hardware of this console.

The narrative of New Super Lucky’s Tale centres on Lucky, a young fox who suddenly finds himself responsible for the Book of Ages, a powerful tome containing entire worlds within its pages. When the villain Jinx and his chaotic crew, the Kitty Litter, attempt to seize the book for their own plans, Lucky is pulled into its magical realms and from there, he travels through each world to recover missing pages, help the locals, and stop Jinx (with the help of the player) from twisting the book’s power to reshape reality. Sure, it’s clichéd, but what 3D platformer isn’t?

While the game’s cheerful tone, colourful presentation and approachable gameplay are still part of the core, the PS5 hardware finally allows these qualities to shine without compromise, as it delivers a mixture of 3D exploration, 2D stages, mini-games, puzzles, collecting coins (including the letters LUCKY), running, jumping, kid-friendly combat, and classic boss battles that keep the experience a fun adventure from start to finish. Although not on the same level as Astro Bot, New Super Lucky’s Tale still delivers a fun, family-friendly adventure on the PS5.

Speaking of the PS5, the technical improvements include 4K presentation and exceptionally smooth 120 frames‑per‑second performance, including fast loading times, which all contribute to a more polished experience. The addition of DualSense haptic feedback is a welcome touch that enhances the game’s playful feel by making it more immersive.

Sound effects go hand‑in‑hand with the gameplay, from Lucky’s movements to the sounds of the enemies, including environmental effects that add to that Saturday‑morning‑cartoon experience, as does the cheerful soundtrack which interacts with the various environments and key gameplay moments.

Final Thoughts
New Super Lucky’s Tale on PlayStation 5 is a charming, polished and technically a remaster of the original game that benefits greatly from the console’s capabilities. It may not offer surprises for those familiar with earlier versions but it delivers an uber‑fun gaming experience that is sorely needed
Recommended for lovers of platforming fun!
