Moonlight Cinema January Program | Shrek emerges as Australia’s top-voted classic
Australia’s favourite outdoor cinema, has today released its
January program, with a blockbuster line up perfect for summer evenings under the stars. Audiences across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide can look forward to new releases, family favourites and must-see moments, including the return of fan-favourite Shrek as part of this summer’s People’s Program. Tickets for the January program of Moonlight Cinema presented by Youi are on sale
at moonlightcinema.com.au.
January brings a mix of films for every movie fan. Big summer titles like Wicked: For Good, Zootopia 2
and Anaconda lead the program, alongside preview screenings of upcoming films including Song Sung Blue, Hamnet and global phenomenon Six the Musical. Families can look forward to fun filled favourites such as SpongeBob: Search for SquarePants and The Parent Trap over the summer holidays.
As part of Moonlight Cinema’s 30th birthday celebrations, audiences have been invited to vote for the
classic films they want to see back on the big screen, with voting open until 15 December. Almost 6,500
movie lovers have already had their say, with early results placing Shrek at number one in every city and chosen by more than one third of all respondents.
The Greatest Showman is holding strong in the runner up position nationwide, while local quirks are
emerging, including Melbourne and Adelaide’s big desire for a Mamma Mia sing-along, and Perth and Brisbane rallying behind Dirty Dancing and Jurassic Park. When voting closes, each city’s top films will return as part of The People’s Program this season, with Shrek, The Greatest Showman and The Parent Trap all set to feature in the January lineup.
Moonlight Cinema presented by Youi runs until Sunday 5 April 2026. Location-specific dates are
